MONDAY - OCTOBER 1, 2017 - P90X3 - Complex Upper
I had a real bad day at work. Feeling extremely frustrated and trapped at my job. When I got home I was in a state of depression like I hadn't been in in a long time. The last thing I wanted to do was this workout. I kept thinking of how I was going to even think about doing any plyo pushups. I thought seriously of not doing the workout. Eventually I just sucked it up and started it. Once I was into the workout, things were a bit more normal. I got in five full rounds with about four minutes left, and then I just relaxed until the end. I did feel better after getting it done.

TUESDAY - OCTOBER 2, 2017 - P90X3 - Complex Lower
I did feel a bit better today, but I'm still way down. The workout went OK. It still tires me out, but I got it done, and once again, I feel better afterwards.
Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 263; Avg Heart Rate: 125; Max Heart Rate: 157
WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 3, 2017 - P90X3 - X3 Yoga
I was looking forward to a day "off". This isn't really a day "off", but it felt like it. The workout went fine. My balance wasn't great, but it usually isn't.

THURSDAY - OCTOBER 4, 2017 - P90X3 - Complex Upper
Once again, I got five full circuits in, then rested the last 4+ minutes. I've only been able to get in about 4 pullups on each set, but they're all unassisted and are a weakness for me. I'd like to do more, but that's where I am now. I can feel the muscles in my back, so that's a good feeling. It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something. On the lunges, I didn't jump again. I simply did very fast Military Presses with 25 lb weights, and I feel it toning my shoulders. I got all the pushups in. I'm not turning too far on the X Plyo Pushups, but my explosion has never been there. I'm doing the best I can. The Bird Dog Pushups are my least favorite move in the cycle. I'm not holding the crunch as long as they are sometimes, but I'm getting them all in, even though I went to my knees once or twice in the later rounds before finishing up.
Time: 30 minutes
FRIDAY - OCTOBER 5, 2017 - P90X3 - Complex Lower
This isn't as tough for me as Complex Upper because I seem to have better lower body strength, but no balance. I can feel the muscles in my quads after doing this routine a few times, so I know it's working. Even though it doesn't seem too hard, I'm usually gasping for air near the end of the third round, and I end up sweating like crazy. I think one of the reasons is that this one is non-stop for me, while in Complex Upper I'm getting a few breaths while doing less pullups than them. I used 25 lb weights on the Knee Drops and DS Double L's and 10's on the lunges, where I went straight up again because I'm uncoordinated on the bounding.

SATURDAY - OCTOBER 6, 2017 - P90X3 - Pilates X
Another "healing" day. The same thing happened this week that happened last week. I started out real slow and stiff on this one. I loosened up as things went on, though. There's still a few moves I really don't like, like the Side Plank moves. Because of my lack of hip mobility, it's hard for me to move my leg forwards, backwards, sideways. and up and down while holding a plank, so most times I'm resting on my hip and not holding the side plank, I'm sure it's decreasing the effectiveness, but the mobility just isn't there.
Time: 30 minutes
SUNDAY - OCTOBER 7, 2017 - P90X3 - X3 Ab Ripper
Business as usual on this one. I got it done. For some reason I wasn't dreading doing it all day, as that happens sometimes on a Sunday. I was just thinking to myself that it wasn't that hard.
Time: 15 minutes
SUNDAY WEIGH IN
Weight: 204.0 (+2,4 lbs)
Body Fat: 23.4% (+0.4%)
Let's face it. I ate a lot of crap this week. No excuses. A lot of stress eating, but I'm making a concerted effort to cut down on the soda consumption. I'm realizing it's causing me a lot of problems.
THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK
Weight gain aside, which was my fault, I'd like to say something about these two Complex workouts. Complex Upper and Complex Lower, along with X3 Ab Ripper come on an add on disc that is not included with the Base P90X3 program. You have to purchase the disc separately and Beachbody has made it quite pricey. So pricey that I think a lot of people won't think it's worth the money. If the budget is tight I can understand that. However, if you're going to be doing X3 for multiple rounds, as I have, and will continue to do so, these Complex workouts will REALLY add something to your fitness gains. They really take things to another level. If you care about those benefits and can afford them, get them. I also want to say, "shame on Beachbody" for the price. If they really cared about people getting fit, they'd be included with the regular program. At the least, offer it for $15 to $20 or so, so most people will take advantage.
