WEEK OF 04/29/19 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE- ROUND 3 - WEEK 3

MONDAY - APRIL 29, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 30-15

My numbers were 30 push-ups and 5 pull-ups again. I got them all in, and didn't come off the bar on any of the pull-ups, although there was some kipping going on on the last few sets. I'm thinking I probably should have increased my number to 6 on the pull-ups. It doesn't seem like a lot, but it is for me. I'm gradually getting better at them, but it's very gradual, and I still struggle with them. Again, I went faster than he did and I finished all six sets as he was finishing his fourth set. I did a max set of push-ups while waiting, and got 65 in. All told, I did 425 push-ups.

Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned 526; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

TUESDAY - APRIL 30, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyo Legs

This one is a mother. It doesn't look like a lot on paper or the preview clips, but it might be the toughest workout in the One On One series. My legs are fried. Except for one or two moves, I kept up with Tony's rep count. I didn't touch the floor on the Four Corners move because I was gassed and my balance was bad. I'm sure if I'm going to be sore the next few days because I did this one two weeks ago and might have got that out of my system.

Time: 63 minutes: Calories Burned: 614; Avg Heart Rate: 120.

WEDNESDAY - MAY 1, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Just Arms

Last of the "Big Three workouts to start the week. I started with 40's on the seated bicep curls. I only did 7, then 6. A bit disappointing, but I was done and didn't want to hurt myself by struggling with bad form to get more. I also struggled with the Incline Bicep Curls. I used 30's and struggled. On the rest of the moves I was OK. On the Forearm Sandwich move I had to stop a few times, but I was using more weight than Tony (I used 15's), so maybe it was too much, but that's what I've used before. I took a shower almost immediately after finishing and had a hard time reaching my head.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 485; Avg Heart Rate: 125.

THURSDAY - MAY 2, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain of Youth (Yoga)

Not the best Yoga workout. I wasn't dreading doing it, but was kind of putting it off a bit. My mind was wandering here and there. My form was OK, Not bad, but not great either. Despite all that, I did feel good when I was done, and that's important..

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 300; Avg Heart Rate: 102.

FRIDAY - MAY 3, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Road Warrior

Instead of using the kitchen sponges to stand on the bands, I used some light weight shoes I'd bought a few years ago. This worked really well and it also helped my on my push-ups as it gave my feet a better grip on the carpet. I went a little faster than Tony did and finished several moves ahead of him. It's tough to measure things from workout to workout with the bands because your feet might not be in the same place each time, but I think I got in a pretty good workout. I think I might try playing around with bands a bit more.

Time: 53 minutes; Calories Burned: 456; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - MAY 4, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Super Cardio (Cardio 5-6)

Not good. My legs were heavy and I just didn't feel like moving fast. I really don't like those Jump, Lunge, Twisty things, so I went as slow as possible, almost like a protest against the move. The rest went OK.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 384; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

SUNDAY - MAY 5, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

I did it again without the CD. Not too many problems, but I did feel it.

Time: 21 minutes; Calories Burned: 154; Avg Heart Rate: 105.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 175.8 (+1.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 16.9% +0.3%)

Not eating well. Again, stress is winning. One of my worst weeks in at least a year.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

The workouts went OK. I'd be lying if I said they were bad, but I just didn't feel they were great. My focus just wasn't there.

WEEK OF 04/22/19 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE- ROUND 3 - WEEK 2

MONDAY - APRIL 22, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Recovery 4 Results

A nice active recovery workout. I worked up a bit of a sweat, but mostly took it easy.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 265; Avg Heart Rate: 105.

TUESDAY - APRIL 23, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Bun Shaper

I like this one. I've been told I have nice buns, so it's nice to work them. It does tire you out a bit, but I got through it without taking any breaks, and I matched the reps Tony was doing.

Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 510; Avg Heart Rate: 124.

WEDNESDAY - APRIL 24, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Diamond Delts

I like working my shoulders. The only problem I had was with the Shoulder Presses. I used 40's the last few times I did this workout, but that was 7 months ago, and I haven't really used that much weight since then. I used the 40's again today, but only got 7 reps in the first time (standing), then 6 reps (sitting) the second time. I knew my form was bad, so I didn't want to push it.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 325; Avg Heat Rate: 116.

THURSDAY - APRIL 25, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain Of Youth (Yoga)

I took a small nap when I came home. I went into the workout feeling good and a bit relaxed. I was looking forward to the NFL Draft. The temperature in the room seemed perfect. This may have been the most technically sound yoga workout I've had in a long, long time. It wasn't necessarily extremely relaxing, but I felt good. I didn't feel like I was rushing through it. I even did OK in the Half Moon segment. Good job!

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 329; Avg Heart Rate: 104.

FRIDAY - APRIL 26, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Mammoth UML

This seems like more of a utility workout to me, much like Road Warrior, but it can get your heart rate up. Tony even admits to that at the start. Most of the moves are from other Tony workouts, but the rep count seems higher here, usually 30+ on each move. I got it done with no problems, even getting ahead of him at times. It certainly was a good use of the 55 minutes. It's not a throwaway workout.

Time: 55 minutes; Calories Burned: 455; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

SATURDAY - APRIL 27, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Medicine Ball Core Cardio

I'll admit I didn't go all out. I pace myself on cardio routines for some reason. It was sill an OK workout.

Time: 36 minutes: Calories Burned: 307; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

SUNDAY - APRIL 28, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

I did the workout without the DVD, just as as change of pace. I also did the eleven Ab Rippr X moves first,  then finished up with the ten Ab Ripper moves. It went Ok, but the pacing on the DVD is better. I also think I might not have had proper form on some of the Ab Ripper moves because I'm not as familiar with them. Regardless, it worked my abs.

Time: 21 minutes; Calories Burned: 172; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 174.4 (+0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 16.6% (-0.1%)

Some Easter candy and a bunch of cashews during the week. Cashews always add to my weight. I can still eat better, though.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

The workouts this week are a bit shorter than last week's and possibly a bit easier. They still made me work, though. Once again, I still need to eat better. I'll keep writing that until I do it. I'm back on the Diet Pepsi again because of the stress at work. That stress leads to poor eating. I'm just lost with the vicious cycle.

WEEK OF 04/15/19 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE- ROUND 3 - WEEK 1

It's been three weeks since I finished P90X2. My body needed a break. The first two weeks off I did nothing. It was nice knowing I could come home and just relax. That was fine for the first ten days. Then I got a little fidgetty and a bit cranky but still felt my body needed to rest a bit. Last week I started the Three Week Yoga retreat just to get some movement again. It was nice, but not enough. I was thinking of doing the last two weeks of that, but that would have meant five weeks of no strength workouts, which I felt was a bit long. So, I decided to get back into the harder stuff. I'll finish the Three Week Yoga Retreat some other time.

MONDAY - APRIL 15, 2018 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 30-15

This is a tough way to get back into things. X2 had some push-ups and pull-ups here and there, but nothing like this. I wasn't sure what I was capable of today, but my targets were 30 push-ups and 5 pull-ups. I got them all in. I didn't even come off the pull-up bar until the last two sets, when my arms are just toast. I never got my back involved either, which I should be doing. There were a few times late in the workout that I wasn't going real deep on the push-ups and there were a times I wasn't going all the way down on the pull-ups. I was even "kippimg" a lot on some of the pull-ups, but I did what I could and got them in. On this routine I always go faster than he does, and I finished about 15 minutes ahead of him. About half way through the time I was waiting for him to finish I did a max set of Standard push-ups and did 60. I've done more before, but my arms were giving way. All told, I did 420 push-ups. I feel real good afterwards, but I think I'm going to be sore.

Time: 58 minutes: Calories Burned: 577; Avg Heart Rate: 124.

TUESDAY - APRIL 16, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyo Legs

Another tough one, maybe tougher than yesterday's. My legs were starting to feel like jello after 6 moves or so, but I kept going, and never hit the pause button. By the time I got to the second last move, the One-Legged jumps, I could barely get my feet off the floor. I'm happy I was able to get through it.

Time: 63 minutes; Calories Burned: 656; Avg Heart Rate: 124.

WEDNESDAY - APRIL 17, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Just Arms

I don't think if lifted heavy weight in a workout in a long time. I looked at my numbers from the last time I did this workout in September 2018 and saw I'd used 40's on the first move, which was Bicep Curls. I didn't think I could handle 40's, so I used 35's on the first round with no problems. I tried the 40's on the repeat without too many problems, which surprised me. I might even try to up it a notch in two weeks, when I do this workout again. I did tire early on the Inclines using 30's., but I did OK on most of the other moves. Overall, I did better than I thought I was going to do, and I might have even been able to use more weight on a few of the moves if I trusted myself.

Time: 46 minutes: Calories Burned: 467; Avg Heart Rate: 124.

THURSDAY - APRIL 18, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain of Youth (Yoga)

I'm having the expected first week soreness, especially in my butt. It's tough to even bend over. My arms are sore too, as are my lats a bit. I know from experience that day for Yoga usually will help things. The soreness was really noticeable today when I was bending down to get into the Upward Dog sequence. It got a bit better as things moved along. The only rel problems I had with the poses was in the Warrior 3 / Half Moon sequences, but that's not anything new. Despite the soreness, I'm really liking how I'm feeling this week, especially mentally.

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 300; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

FRIDAY - APRIL 19, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Road Warrior

For some reason I look at this one as an easy one and I don't push myself. I used a relatively light maroon band. This one does move fast and I'm always rushing to get my feet in the right place on the band, so I'm not always concentrating on getting the most out of it. I usually end up withe band too loose, so it's almost more like a cardio workout to me than a resistance workout, which is wrong. I'll try and be more prepared next time, or maybe I should just pause while I get set.

Time: 53 minutes; Calories Burned: 476; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

SATURDAY - APRIL 20, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio 5-6 (Super Cardio)

This went OK. None of the moves are exceedingly hard, but you do work up a sweat. My legs were feeling a bit heavy today. I'm not eating great again.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 390; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

SUNDAY - APRIL 21, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

No major problems, but I did struggle a bit with a few of the Ab Ripper X moves, notably the Hip Rock and Raises, Pulse Ups, V-Ups, Crossed Legged Sit-ups and the Oblique V-Ups on the right side. I got them all in, but my speed or range of motion was lacking.

Time: 24 minutes; Calories Burned: 88; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 173.8 (+0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 17.6% (-0.1%)

I'm not eating good again. Back to drinking diet soda, Stress.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm feeling like I'm out of synch with a lot of things going in my life, so it's good to be back into a routine on my workouts. I'm feeling like I'm accomplishing something there. However, my eating sucks. I'm totally lost on that. After all these years you'd think I'd have a grip on it, but I don't.

WEEK OF 04/08/19 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - WEEK 1

MONDAY - APRIL 8, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT -  FOUNDATION CORE

I took two weeks off from the hard stuff. My body was just fatigued. I felt our of sorts because I wasn't working out, but I knew better. I saw the Three Week Yoga Retreat advertised on TV the other day. They were offering it in CD form, as opposed to the streaming Beachbody On Demand, so I bought it. I was thinking the first week was going to be a walk in the park, but I was wrong. The moves were basic, but the two weeks off affected my flexibility a bit. I was even shaking a bit while holding some of the poses. I'm interested in seeing where this goes.

TUESDAY - APRIL 9, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - FOUNDATION STRETCH

The thirty minutes went by very fast. There weren't really too many different stretchesm but they were either held for a long period of time, or they were repeated. I'd done most of them before, but these weren't as intense.

WEDNESDAY - APRIL 10, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - FOUNDATION BALANCE

Some simple poses, such as Tree and Warrior 2, which I've done hundreds of times. Balancing is tough for me, and I struggled here too. The one thing I learned on Warrior 2 was how far to space my legs. It's something I was never clear on.

THURSDAY - APRIL 11, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - FOUNDATION FLOW

Today was basically learning Sun Salutations, which, again, I've done many times in Tony's Yoga programs. I liked the pace and instructions from Vytas..

FRIDAY - APRIL 12, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - FOUNDATION FLOW-TO-GO

Basically, a continuation from yesterday. I liked it.

SATURDAY - APRIL 13, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - FOUNDATION RELAX

This was supposed to be relaxing. The CD sleeve said it was 20 minutes. When the DVD started, the clock said 23 minutes. It pissed me off. That should tell you the frame of mind I was in. It just wasn't relaxing to me. My fault.

SUNDAY - APRIL 14, 2019 - THREE WEEK YOGA RETREAT - TAKE 10 AM

Pretty much as shoter version of yesterday's workout. I wasn't really relaxed again, so I didn't get the benefits.
