WEEK OF 01/27/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 4 - WEEK 10

MONDAY - JANUARY 27, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - UBX

One of the toughest of the One On One's, if not the toughest. There are no real easy moves until you get to the last six. In other workouts there are tough moves, but you usually have time to breathe between moves. Here you don't. When I got home I started to not feel well. My body just felt totally exhausted and I wondered how I was going to get through this. I took a nap, then just started. I pushed myself. The two Forearm Tricep Kickback moves in plank were killers. I used 15's one those and did 12 reps each. I really wanted to quit on those, but didn't. I did 12 Chaturocker Push Ups on each set. Tony only did 10, so I felt good about that, but they were exhausting. On the Shoulder Presses I used 30's, 25's, 20's. Again, exhausting. The only breathers were at the end, with the Circle Flys, and the tricep moves with the resistance band. On the video, he was pushing ahead with the bands. That always makes me nervous because I always think the pullup bar is going to come apart and hit e in the back of the head, so I did Tricep Push Downs instead, and those worked great. This might have been my best workout of the round.

Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 635; Avg Heart Rate: 125.

TUESDAY - JANUARY 28, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Synergistics: MC2

I don't like this one, plain and simple. I'm not a fan of core moves and I really struggle with one legged balance moves, so this one just puts me in a not so good frame of mind. It starts with a very long P90X2'ish warmup which doesn't help things. I can't really say I dogged it, because some of the moves I simply can't do. I can try and get better at them, but with my lack of balance I feel it's not going to happen. After the seventeen moves I don't like, he finishes up with a long cool down. 67 minutes is just too long for me knowing I'm not getting a lot out of it.

Time: 67 minutes: Calories Burned: 561; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 29, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - V-Sculpt

I like this one because there are a lot of band moves, which is a bit of a change from the normal. I used 30's on both kinds of Concentration Curls and went 30-25-20 on the Down The Rack move. My Chin Ups weren't exceptional, but I like them more than Pull Ups.

Time: 56 minutes; Calories Burned: 501; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

THURSDAY - JANUARY 30, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I knew early on that my balance was going to poor. I basically tolerated the workout. I only got really frustrated once, when I fell out of a Warrior 3 move, which I can't normally hold anyways.

Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 524; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

FRIDAY - JANUARY 31, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - P.A.P.

I'd been using some workout sheets I found online, but with this round I've been making my own. The ones I'd been using had all the warm up moves included, so I decided to do the same. It kind of familiarized myself with all the moves, so it made them a bit easier to follow. Knowing I had to write a rep number down made me work a bit harder during the warm up. It was long. The actual workout went OK. The only real issue I has was on the Front to Back Lunges, because I had a hard time keeping my balance. I liked the 4 Ball Chaturanga move. I held it for the entire 30 seconds three of the four times. I felt good when I was done with the workout.

Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 612' Avg Heart Rate: 115.

SATURDAY - FEBRUARY 1, 2020 = TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Stretch and Recovery

I wasn't very flexible today. The leg stretches were especially tough, and I come out of some of them early. I've must better with this one in the past.

Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 403; Avg Heart Rate: 96.

SUNDAY - FEBRUARY 2, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

Not too many problems. On the Behind the Back move I used a small ball and somehow did 20 reps, but really uncoordinated.

Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 304; Avg Heart Rate: 102.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 170.0 (+0,2 lbs)
Body Fat: 15.5% (+0.2%)

Small increases, but I ate a lot of chocolate yesterday.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I generally worked hard. There were a few routines (Core Synergistics, Yoga, warm up of PAP) that is wasn't thrilled about, but I did them anyways. I'm really disappointed in myself for the nutrition. I only put on a fractin of a pound and a little body fat, but on Friday I bought a tub of chocolate covered almonds and ate a ton of them in a day and a half. Not a good thing to be doing. I also started using some Muscle Milk as a post workout supplement to add a bit of muscle. I don't know if that will add weight, but it shouldn't add body fat.

WEEK OF 01/20/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 4 - WEEK 9

MONDAY - JANUARY 20, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Chest, Back, and Balls

This is the start of month three, and Volume Three, the tesr workouts for P90X2. I'm feeling a lot better today. I took some aspirin before I went to bed last night. The slight fever and the body soreness were pretty much gone when I woke up this morning. Today's workout was tough. I can be hard on myself if I'm not perfect, and I wasn't today, but when I look back at things, I'm doing things that most 62 year old men wouldn't attempt. When I was done, I felt great.

Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 542; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

TUESDAY - JANUARY 21, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyocide: MC2

My legs aren't really sore, but more tired. It was tough jumping straight up, but I did what I could. I did decide to skip jumping off of a stool of the Depth Charges. Because I have weak ankles, I'm always worried I'm going to twist or break one coming down. Instead, I stayed on the floor, took a small bounce, then took an explosive one. It worked out fine. I was winded when done.

Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 579; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 22, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Shoulders and Arms: MC2

I've been feeling pretty good bout what I've been doing with the workouts lately, so I kind of went after this one. I was smart abiut my weight choices. I went heavier than I had in the past in spots, and them I lightened up a bit when I thought my form might suffer. On the Arnold Presses, I thought I'd used 40's last time, but I thought that was too heavy to start things out, so I used 35's instead. I then looked at my numbers from last time and saw I'd only used 25's back then, so I immediately had an increase right off the bat. On the Seated Bicep Curls, I did the first two sets with 30's, then the last set with 35's, doing only two less reps. On the Crazy 8's, I did the first set with 20's. I was exhausted, so I backed off to 15's on the second set (still tough), then gutted it out on the third set by going back up to 20's. That doesn't sound like a lot of weight, but when your arms are fried 32 reps gets you tired real quick.

Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 558; Avg eart Rate: 120.

THURSDAY - JANUARY 23, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

As I've said before, this is not my favorite yoga routine. In fact, I've had a strong dislike for it. However, I seem to be on a roll with the workouts lately, so I was actually looking forward to it. I went at it with an open mind and almost embraced it. I didn't fight the moves I couldn't do well. I either did the best I could with them, or simply took a break for a few seconds. I think I only got really frustrated once or twice. Overall, it was a good relaxing, but tiring, workout.

Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 520; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

FRIDAY - JANUARY 24, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Base and Back: MC2

I went the same pace as he did during the first round because I didn't remember all the plyo moves. I went a little faster during the second round. I did 20 reps on all the plyo moves. I could have probably done a few more here and there, but I know if I'd done that on all the moves, I'd have worn out quickly. I felt strong on the pull-ups, but my hands kept sliding off the bar so fast that my last few reps were done my using fingertips instead of my back muscles.

Time:51 minutes; Calories Burned: 402; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

SATURDAY - JANUARY 25, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Total Body X: MC2

I wasn't really feeling it going in, but I went at it pretty good. I did notice that the first half of this workout seems a bit tougher than the second half, so I didn't really pace myself too much. The Levers are coming easier for me. I ordered a new pull-up bar yesterday because the grips on this one are becoming too slippery and I don't know how to fix them.

Time: 42 minutes; Calories Burned: 396; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

SUNDAY - JANUARY 26, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

I did 20 reps on almost all the moves, 40 on the Scissor Clappers. No real problems expect on the Behind the Back, Through the Legs with the ball. I got 4 of those in.

Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 294; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 169.8 (+0.2 lbs)
Body Fat" 15.3% (no change)

Still eating too much junk, but I think it's starting to change. I'm not enjoying the junk as much.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Tough workouts, but I stayed with them. Hopefully the decrease in junk food cravings stays.

WEEK OF 01/13/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 4 - WEEK 8

MONDAY - JANUARY 13, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Upper Body Balance

I was in a pissy mood when I got home. I was feeling a bit weak also, so I wasn't really looking forward to doing this one. I was shaky on a few of the pushup (on balls) moves and my form was bad on some of the boat moves. Overall, it wasn't a great workout, but I did try. One of those days. I learn from it and move on.

Time: 53 minutes; Calories Burned: 520; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

TUESDAY - JANUARY 14, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg for Legs

I can't really balance on one leg. It's not a woe is me statement, it's a fact. I wanted to try something different with this workout, so I was thinking of trying this on a Bosu Ball. I saw that was impractical, so I thought of holding onto a chair, then a foam roller. I used that for the first move, then gave that idea up and finished it normally. I tapped on every rep, but I finished it. I did 10 reps on each side on most of the moves.

Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 334; Avg Heart Rate: 104.

WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 15, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Back and Belly

I normally like this routine and do OK at it. Today I felt really, really weak on my pullups, and barely got my chin over the bar on a lot of them. The "belly" moves were fine. I ended up going faster than he did on the video because I wanted to get it over with.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 280; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

THURSDAY - JANUARY 16, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird Yoga

One of my better yoga workouts in a while. I wasn't fighting things as much as I usually do. On the poses I was leaning on the outside of the front foot a bit. This straightened me out a little and kept my foot from caving in. I was still struggling with it, but it is a start.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 228; Avg Heart Rate: 99.

FRIDAY - JANUARY 17, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 100/30/20

I was pretty good on the jump rope for me. I only had a few misses through the first five or six rounds, then I got a bit tired. It took me 15 misses to get to my 100 jumps in the last round. That's four less than last time. I did 60 push-ups on the max set for those. Overall, a good workout. It was fun.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 386; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - JANUARY 18, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Confusion: Mason's Choice

As I've said many times before, this is one of my favorite workouts. Tony is in such a great mood, it is contagious. Because of that I tend to think of it as an easy workout, but it does have it's moments, and you can work up a good sweat. By the time I got to the Egan Brother and Press Jacks moves, I could barely get my feet off the floor. I'm sure all the jump roping I did yesterday didn't help with that. I also went pretty slow on the Loading Docks and Lunge Reaches, both floor to ceiling moves, which aren't my favorites.

Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 387; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

SUNDAY - JANUARY 19, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

I was feeling very tired, sore, and sluggish all day long. I got this one done late. Good thing I like it, because I'm not sure what I would have done with a routine I didn't like. Everything went OK.

Time: 38 mimutes; Calories Burned: 299; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 196.6 (+0.2 lbs)
Body Fat: 15.3% (-0.1%)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm still not eating great. I'm just not concentrating on it or working hard enough on it. Today my body is real sore and sluggish. Eating is a problem. Stress is a problem. I also think the Jump Ropes from Friday are contributing. I don't do them a lot.

WEEK OF 01/06/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 4 - WEEK 7

MONDAY - JANUARY 6, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Ball Sandwich

I kind of went at it today. I was good on the pullups, but only until my hands started slipping off the bar. On the rest of the moves I was OK. I wasn't going real low on any of the pushups. I went faster than he did on the video and finished about four moves ahead of him. It wasn't to prove anything. I just wanted to get it done.

Time: 41 minutes; Calories Burned: 384; Avg Heart Rate: 121.

TUESDAY - JANUARY 7, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Butt and Belly

As I've said before, I really like this workout because Tony is in such a good mood. The only moves that I dread are the Leap Frog Squats and the 8 Card Pickup, but I'm getting through them OK. I'm feeling good about where I am.

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 345; Avg Heart Rate: 309.

WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 8, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg

This is Day 45. Halfway through the Round. Shoulders and Arms balancing on one leg, which I can't do. So, I placed a medicine ball below my free foot and put as little pressure on it as I could. The main thing it did was prevent me from collapsing inward, which is what usually happens when I try balancing on one leg. It worked out OK. I used 15 lb weights on all the moves and did 15 reps on all the moves, except for the 21's, I figured low weight, high reps would get something done with my arms, even if that wasn't the point of the workout. I did it that way two weeks ago and ended up a bit sore, so something was working.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 282; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

THURSDAY - JANUARY 9, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird Yoga

I was a little flustered at first because I was trying to grab some water and missed the first 30 seconds or so of the actual workout. I finally got back on track and it ended up being a pretty good yoga workout. I even held the Half Moons OK.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 231; Avg Heart Rate: 101.

FRIDAY - JANUARY 10, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 10 Minute Crusher Pack

I did hetter than usual on the hanging ab moves and the jump ropes. The hanging ab moves are tough to do because my pullup bar is hanging in a narrow doorway, so my rangle of motion is limited. But I do what I'm able to do. On the jump ropes I went over 30 on each of the five sets. I worked up a good sweat.

Time: 33 minutes; Calories Burned: 256; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

SATURDAY - JANUARY 11, 2019 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Intervals

I was almost looking forward to this one today. It went well, but not great. I still hold back a bit on most cardio routines.

Time: 41 minutes; Calories Burned: 305; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

SUNDAY - JANUARY 12, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

I did normal. Only issues were on the second set of Banana Boat, as usual.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 235; Avg Heart Rate: 98.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 169.4 (+1.0 lb)
Body Fat: 15.4% (+0.1%)

Not a surprise. I'm fluctuating every week.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

The workouts went OK. I'm making a conscious effort to eat better.
