WEEK OF 12/21/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 13

MONDAY - DECEMBER 21, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - SBT

Last week of the round. They have loose schedule set up depending on whether you want to go strength or cardio. I'm going with the strength, and even modified the schedule a bit. Today was a very good workout. I upper my weights on a few of the shoulder and bicep moves. I did feel the increases, but they were do-able. I'm happy with myself and feel good afterwards.

Start Time: 7:30 pm: Workout Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 382; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

TUESDAY - DECEMBER 22, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Drop, Pulse, and Hold

Pretty much the same as the last few times, I used 20's as weights. I definitely go lower on most of the moves, but I don't think I'd be able to walk for a month, and I think my quads would be trash.

Start Time: 7:10 pm; Workout Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 392; Avg Heart Rate: 106.

WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 23, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Who's Got Your Back?

My hands kept slipping off the pullup bar for some reason, so my pullup numbers sucked. On the other moves I used the same weights as before 40's on the heavy back moves and 15's on the shoulder moves. On the last set of the Arc Rows I did bump them up to 20's.

Start Time: 8:55 pm; Workout Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 370; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

THURSDAY - DECEMBER 24, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Primal Flow

The moves getting better the more I do them, but I still have a long way to go, especially on the kick throughs,

Start Time: 9:15 pm: Workout Time: 46 minutes: Calories Burned: 232; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

FRIDAY - DECEMBER 25, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Triple Trouble Challenge

This might be my favorite Beta 1 workout. I remember dreading P90X Chest and Back, but now I like the combo. My numbers were 30 pushups and 6 pullups. All were accomplished, and I never cake off the bar except when changing hand positions on the Vaulter Pullups.

Start Time: 3:55 pm; Workout Time: 63 minutes; Calories Burned: 391; Avg Heart Rate: 103.

SATURDAY - DECEMBER 26, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Power and Strength Yoga

This is the last workout of the Power Nation Beta 1 schedule. Even though I started mid way through, I'm going to follow what they are doing, which includes an "off" week next week. Today's workout was better than last week's Yoga Flow. I went to my knees a few times for a few second break, but I didn't just walk away for entire moves like I did last week. I don't know if it's me, but this one really tires you out.

Start Time: 6:20 pm; Workout Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 588; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

SUNDAY - DECEMBER 27, 2020 - Rest

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 157.4 (-0.8 lbs)
Body Fat: 12.7 % (-0.2%)

Overall I gained 0.2 lbs over the seven weeks of Power Nation with no change in body fat.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I finished pretty strong. I picked some tough strength workouts for the final week and think I did OK. I increased my weight and/or reps on a lot of the moves.

THOUGHTS ON THE PROGRAM

As I said, I started half way through, so I missed doing the repitition of a lot of the month one workouts, but from what I did do, I felt it was effective. I feel more toned and a bit stronger. There were a few of the cardio workouts I wasn't impressed with, but the strength workouts were P90X ish. Overall, it was a success. I'm looking forward to Beta 2, then the final version.

WEEK OF 12/14/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 12

MONDAY - DECEMBER 14, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - SBT

I did pretty good. I used 15's on most of the shoulder moves and 20's on most of the bicep and tricep moves. I like the limit of 8 reps per move and the use of the lighter weights. It's a different feel than P90X Shoulders and Arms where you are doing max reps with max weights.

Start Time: 7:45 pm; Workout Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 330; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

TUESDAY - DECEMBER 15, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Drop, Pulse, and Hold

Again, it went well. No issues except losing my balance a bit in the lunge postures. This is one you're going to feel, not matter how many times you do it.

Start Time:7:45 pm; Workout Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 406; Avg Heart Rate: 105.

WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 16, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Triple Trouble Challenge

After the first set of pullups I decided to raise my goal from the 5 I did last time, to 6. It worked well and I never had to come down from the bar. Pushups were a solid 30 with no problems. There is a lot of waiting between sets on this one, but I like it.

Start Time: 7:45 pm; Workout Time: 63 minutes; Calories Burned: 332; Avg Heart Rate: 106.

THURSDAY - DECEMBER 17, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Primal Flow

Mixed feelings about this one. While I understand the concept and think it definitely has purpose and should be included in the program, it just doesn't get me excited. Part of that may be the way Tony is presenting it here. It's part of the testing process, but he has Michael doing too many modifications throughout that it just interrupts the flow of the workout. It's almost as if he's afraid it's going to be too hard and turn people off, and that doesn't appear to be the case. It's definitely got a learning curve, but it's definitely do-able.

Start Time: 8:25 pm; Workout Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 349; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

FRIDAY - DECEMBER 18, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Arms and Abs

This is one of my favorite Power Nation workouts. I upped the weight and/or reps on a lot of the exercises with no problems. It felt good.

Start Time: 8:00 pm; Workout Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 368; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

SATURDAY - DECEMBER 19, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Yoga Flow

I really liked this one when I did it two weeks ago. Today I wasn't dreading doing it, but wasn't in the mood to devote almost an hour and a half to it. I was stressed a bit today and just wanted to relax and watch some football. Knowing I had to do this wasn't helping. Once I got into it, I couldn't stay relaxed. The pace, which didn't bother me two weeks ago, was excruciating today. I was getting frustrated and probably just sat through half of the workout. Some moves I just did quicker than they did, just to get them done. Not a good experience, but there are going to be days like that.

Start Time: 8:50 pm; Workout Time: 85 minutes; Calories Burned: 568; Avg Heart Rate: 102.

SUNDAY - DECEMBER 20, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Core Warrior 2

I did OK, but the sixth and last moves are entirely too long.

Start Time: 9:10 pm: Workout Time: 21 minutes; Calories Burned: 158; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

*I forgot to weigh myself in the morning, so this was done at 9:30 pm, after eating all day
Weight: 158.2 (+1.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 12.9% (+0.2%)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

The workouts went well. The program works. I'm just sore, and it's making me irritable. The whole worldwide Covid situation is just making me depressed. I don't even feel like moving, let alone having to go to work, then coming home and doing a workout. I'm in a better situation than a lot of people and probably don't have a right to complain, but that's where I am.

WEEK OF 12/07/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 11

MONDAY - DECEMBER 7, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Blood and Breath

I wasn't in a real good mood when I got home. Stressful day at work and I'm drinking way too much Pepsi again. I saw someone online say they didn't like this workout, so I guess that influenced me a bit. I read my notes on the last time I did it and saw it was 68 minutes and a bit "blah". I sat through the warmup then half assed the workout. It was boring, but I did the entire thing.

Start Time: 7:20 pm; Workout Time: 68 minutes; Calories Burned: 470; Avg Heart Rate: 103 .

TUESDAY - DECEMBER 8, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Push

A good old school workout, which I like. I increased my numbers in a few areas.

Start Time: 8:250 pm; Workout Time: 54 minutes; Calories Burned: 318; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 9, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Punchin' and Kickin'

I really want to like this workout, and probably will once I get used to the moves, but for now it just feel a bit disjointed. Alice seems like she's a bit out of control on some of the moves. There's a few where she seems like she's kicking with the wrong leg, or maybe she's doing it right and Tony is off. Just a bit confusing and it takes away the flow a bit.

Start Time: 8:20 pm; Workout Time: 37 minutes; Calories Burned: 279; Avg Heart Rate: 106 .

THURSDAY - DECEMBER 10, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Who's Got Your Back

I was feeling pretty good throughout the workout. I went a bit faster than they did, then watched as they finished up. I'm realizing I can probably do more pullups than I presently am, but my hands keep sliding off the bar. I need to do something with my grip strength.

Start Time: 8:15 pm; Workout Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 402; Avg Heart Rate: 109 .

FRIDAY - DECEMBER 11, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Heart Lungs Legs

I hated this the first time I did it. Today I just settled in and did the best I could with the moves as they came up. It was much more enjoyable, and I found myself actually liking it.

Start Time: 7:40 pm; Workout Time: 61 minutes; Calories Burned: 376; Avg Heart Rate: 104.

SATURDAY - DECEMBER 12, 2020 - Power and Strength Yoga

My plan was to get this done earlier in the day, but that didn't happen. By the time I got around to it I just wasn't in the mood. I was bred with the routine and actually sat out a few of the moves. I wasn't angry or anything, and I didn't feel guilty about doing so, but there are only so many vinyasas you want to do.

Start Time:8:55 pm; Workout Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 523; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

SUNDAY - DECEMBER - 13, 2020 - 3 Speed Core Warrior

This went well. The only move I really have trouble with is the one where you're walking your feet back in forth while in plank. I just kind of leave my feet where they are and move forward and backwards from my elbows.

Start Time: 8:00 pm: Workout Time: 18 minutes; Calories Burned: 147; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 156.8 (-0.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 12.7% (no change)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm definitely seeing some kind of results with this program. It's different enough from P90X that it's keeping things fresh.

WEEK OF 11/30/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 10

MONDAY - NOVEMBER 30, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Triple Trouble Challenge

Three sets of the same kind of pushups with about a one minute break in between each set. Then the same thing with pullups. Four rounds. I thought I was going to have a lot of trouble with this one, especially on the pullups, because I tire quickly with them. I picked 30 pushups on each set, and 5 pullups. I did them all. I never came off the bar on the pullups which surprised me. Granted, I wasn't doing a lot, but it was good for me and my track record with pullups. I did my sets when Sean was going his, and rested when Bobby was doing his. The pace was perfect, and I had no desire to go faster than they did. A good workout, and I really enjoyed it.

Start Time: 7:20 pm: Workout Timre: 63 minutes; Calories Burned: 361; Avg Heart Rate: 103.

TUESDAY -DECEMBER 1, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Drop, Pulse, and Hold

I think this is a well designed workout. If you use the right weight and more importantly go deep, you'll really strengthen your legs. I used 20's on most of the moves, but I'll admit I didn't go too deep, partially because my balance is bad. I was getting a little frustrated at the end because I just wanted to finish the workout, and he doing a little un-necessary babbling.

Start Time: 7:40 pm; Workout Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 533; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 2, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - SBT

Shoulders, Biceps, Triceps, but it's not a circuit. You do all the Shoulder moves, then all the Bicep moves, then all the Tricep moves. It went OK, but on the Bicep moves, I kept things light, using 20's, because I felt I'd tire easily if I went higher. I think it was a wise decision. I might be able to go up a bit once I get used to the routine. I also used 20's on most of the Shoulder moves.

Start Time: 7:55 pm; Workout Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 275; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

THURSDAY - DECEMBER 3, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Primal Flow

I'm kind of getting used to the pattern of the workout, and also some of the moves. I'm still not good at a lot of them, but at least I'm figuring out where to move my body into the right position. Heart Rate monitor isn't always working. Can't keep it wet enough.

Start Time: 8:55 pm; Workout Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 255?; Avg Heart Rate: 107?.

FRIDAY - DECEMBER 4, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Arms and Abs

I like this one. I went at it pretty good, increasing the weights in a few places. I'm starting to feel a bit more toned in the upper arm / shoulder area.

Start Time: 8:30 pm; Workout Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 247?; Avg Heart Rate: 106?.

SATURDAY - DECEMBER 5, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Yoga Flow

I think this is the last of the month one workouts that I hadn't done yet. I knew it was about an hour and a half, and I'd read that it went slow because there was a lot of instructing involved, so I was a bit leery going into it. I ended up really, really liking it. There were a few poses held for a longer than usual time because of the conversation, so I just went to Child Pose for a while. Otherwise, it was great. I felt very relaxed afterwards. I can't remember the last time I felt like that, but I guess that's what yoga is supposed to feel like. A+.

Start Time: 7:25 pm; Workout Time: 85 minutes; Calories Burned: 642; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

SUNDAY - DECEMBER 6, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Core Warrior 2

I'm getting better at a lot of the moves. I just can't do the ones with multiple taps as fast as they can, but I did get all 20 reps in.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 157.2 (+2.8 lbs)
Body Fat: 12.7% (+0.3%)

I'm not too concerned with the weight gain. I'm not eating as much as I should be.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I got through the workouts OK. I'm feeling better and stronger. This thing is working, sneakily.

Monday, November 23, 2020

WEEK OF 11/23/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 9

MONDAY - NOVEMBER 23, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Punchin' and Kickin'

I generally like the Martial Arts cardio workouts, and Alice has always been one of my favorite cast members. This was the first time doing this one, so I was a bit uncoordinated getting the sequences down, but once I do, I think I'll really like this one a lot. I was a bit concerned about how many Sprawls would be involved, but it wasn't too bad. I'll be looking forward to doing this one again.

Start Time: 8:00 pm; Workout Time: 37 minutes; Calories Burned: 279; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

TUESDAY - NOVEMBER 24, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Push

Of all the Power Nation workouts I've done so far, this one feels the most like an Original P90X workout. I used 15's on most of the moves once again and they seemed to work well. I liked it.

Start Time: 7:35 pm; Workout Time: 54 minutes; Calories Burned: 430; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

WEDNESDAY - NOVEMBER 25, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Heart, Lungs, Legs

Not a fan. I'm not much on Cardio routines anymore. This one lost my interest from the start. Around the third or fourth moves, where you're reaching to the floor, then jumping up  switching legs, I just gave up halfway through the move and watched the rest from the couch. Things got a little better as it went along, but not my much. Something tells me I might like this one better the more I do it, but I'm not there yet.

Start Time: 8:40 pm; Workout Time: 61 minutes; Calories Burned: 360; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

THURSDAY - NOVEMBER 26. 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Who's Got Your Back

It's Thanksgiving. I hadn't really eaten when I finally did this in the early evening, and I kind of had to force myself to get it done. It went OK. The pullups were a struggle after a while. I used 40's again on the Heavy Pants moves, but I've become a bit cautious with lifting heavy weights while being bent over and not using my legs. Overall, I'd say it went well.

Start Time: 6:35 pm; Workout Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 442; Avg Heart Rate: 121.

FRIDAY - NOVEMBER 27, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Total Body (Head To Toe)

This is one on Tony's U-C-M-L (Upper, Cardio, Middle, Lower) workouts, which I wasn't expecting, based on the title. Still, it went well. Nothing too hard.

Start Time: 7:35 pm; Workout Time: 59 minutes; Calories Burned:  457; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 28, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Power and Strength Yoga

After a while you just get tired of doing one vinyasa after another. Today was that day, A few times I just came out of the pose and sat on the couch for 30 seconds.

Start Time: 8:20 pm: Workout Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 574; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 29, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - 3 Speed Core Warrior

This was the ab/core routine from the first month that I never did, so I thought I'd try it today. 4 standing moves, 4 plank moves, 4 moves on your back. I did OK, but not great, as I was still getting used to some of the moves. However, I can feel it in my core afterwards, so it must have done something.

Start Time: 8:55 pm; Workout Time: 19 minutes; Calories Burned: 158; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 154.4 (-1.6 lbs)
Body Fat" 12.4% (-0.1%)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Not too many thoughts. I did some new workouts which went OK. I can't tell if I like the new program, but I think the more I do it, and the more refined it gets, I will like it. Right now, I just don't feel like working out most of the time.

Monday, November 16, 2020

WEEK OF 11/16/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 8

MONDAY - NOVEMBER 16, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Power and Strength Yoga

I really struggled with this one on Saturday, so I was a bit worried about my stamina a bit. I did much better today. I'm thinking Saturday's struggles were due to my very sore legs from Drop, Pulse, and Hold. Today, It's only my shoulders that are a bit sore.

Start Time: 7:10 pm; Workout Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 590; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

TUESDAY - NOVEMBER 17, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Arms and Abs

Nothing really too hard. I guess you could lift heavier weight. but on a lot of these moves that would have been tough. Both Tony and Bobby were using between 10's and 25's on most of the exercises. I'm questioning the safety of the Heavy Curls. Seems like your back is in a compromising position to be lifting heavy weight. Overall, it wasn't a bad routine. I think I'll like it the more I do it.

Start Time: 7:35 pm; Workout Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 389; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

WEDNESDAY - NOVEMBER 18, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Blood and Breath

This kind of a blah workout. There's nothing too hard, which be nice. Too much changing direction and hopping from spot to spot. I move too slow and don't have time to get deep in squats. It still tires you out a bit.

Start Time: 9:00 pm; Workout Time: 68 minutes; Calories Burned: 514; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

THURSDAY - NOVEMBER 19, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Power and Strength Yoga

Not much to say. It's the third time I've been through this one. I like the sequences, and I did OK with them today. It's over an hour, but it goes fast.

Start Time: 8:00 pm; Workout Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 559; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

FRIDAY - NOVEMBER 20, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Primal Flow

I think this is one I might enjoy more as I get better at the moves. Right now I'm a bit coordinated and can't do a lot of them properly. But I'm going to keep trying.

Start Time: 8:15 pm: Workout Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 432; Avg Heart Rate: 121.

SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 21, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Arms and Abs

I never blow off workouts, but I came close today. I was feeling really tired today. I took few naps. I didn't know how I was going to get the energy to do. Finally, a bit after 9pm, I started. The workout went OK. I used heavier weights on a few of the moves. I'm still a bit leery of the bent over Heavy Curls, so I did Seated Bicep Curls instead. The ab moves all went well.

Start Time: 9:15 pm; Workout Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 412; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 22, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Core Warrior 2

I almost didn't do this one. I normally rest on P90X Recovery Week Sunday's. I tried to convince myself that's what this was. Deep down inside I knew I just didn't want to do it. I finally got it done very late. It went OK. A few of these moves are bears. Just long.

Start Time: 10:20 pm; Workout Time: 21 minutes; Calories Burned: 187; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 156.0 (-1.2 lbs)
Body Fat: 12.5% (-0.2%)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I don't know if I'm fully committed. I'm feeling because I started late that I'm not a part of this thing. I'm not really going full out. Maybe it's because I'm not familiar with the moves. Maybe it's because my body is still a bit tired and I'm afraid I'm going to wear myself out. Mayne it's the state of the world at this moment. I don't know. I feel like I'm just going through the motions.

WEEK OF 11/09/2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - WEEK 7

MONDAY - NOVEMBER 9, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Push

I've taken three weeks off. My body is still sore and I wasn't really ready to jump back into things, but I thought I'd try it out. The Beta Group is in Week 7 of the program, so I'm jumping in where they are. This one is Chest, Shoulders, and Triceps. Most of the moves were variations of moves I'd done before, so I really wasn't out of place. I used 15's on most of the moves, then used 10's on a few of the moves where your arms were stretched out in front of you. It seemed to go well. There are "streaming" workouts through YouTube, so I had to use my Roku to get them on my TV. Everything was going OK until it started buffering with about 9 minutes to go. I had to restart my internet, then reload the workout. It worked, but I hope this isn't going to be an ongoing problem. I like my DVD's. All in all, it was a good start.

Start Time: 6:50 pm: Workout Time: 54 minutes; Calories Burned: 488; Avg Heart Rate: 125.

TUESDAY - NOVEMBER 10, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Blood and Breath

This was a cardio / core routine. 10 moves done three times each. I was a bit surprised by the easiness of the moves. A few were a bit tough, but I've done tougher. I need to work on getting a few of them down, so I wasn't doing full out, but in most cases I was doing the harder versions. I used my Xero Shoes instead of doing it in my bare feet, and I found my balance was a lot better. I also wasn't sliding on the carpet as much. This might get a bit harder once I know what I'm doing and can go all out.

Start Time:7:25 pm; Workout Time: 68 minutes; Calories Burned: 550; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

WEDNESDAY - NOVEMBER 11, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Primal Flow

This didn't start well. The video wouldn't play through to the TV. I don't like streaming stuff for this very reason. It's why I prefer DVD's. After a while it said it was a YouTube problem and not my equipment. After about 45 minutes I was able to get started. I was apprehensive about this workout because there were a lot of mixed reactions on the Facebook Group. Some of those people had posted videos of themselves doing some of the moves and they looked strange. It really wasn't as bad as I thought, but my lack of flexibility really hindered me going full range of motion on a lot of them. I couldn't get my foot to the front on the Step Through move. I used the Xero Shoes again because I was slipping in bare feet at the beginning. I was having a bit of a problem with them though because the soles were grabbing the carpet too much when I was trying to make some movements. I guess it just takes a while to get used to them. I still like them a lot though.

Start Time: 8:40 pm; Workout Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 397; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

THURSDAY - NOVEMBER 12, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Drop, Pulse and Hold

This is a leg workout. 15 Drops (Squats or Lunges), 10 Pulses, 10 count hold in down position. 10 moves, then repeat. Some are right  leg, then left leg. I couldn't go too low on a lot of the moves, but overall I think I did better than I thought I would have. Nothing really hard, but it's going to wear on you, I think I'm going to be really sore in a few days.

Start Time: 7:25 pm; Workout Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 619; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

FRIDAY - NOVEMBER 13, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Who's Got Your Back

I was feeling really weak going into it, and wasn't looking forward to lifting heavy weights on things like Lawnmowers and Heavy Pants. I ended up using 40's on both, but didn't have good form on the Heavy Pants. I wasn't sure what to expect on the pullups. I started out at about six reps per set, but tired quickly and think I only did three on the last set. Overall, it was a well designed workout. I just didn't do too well today.

Start Time:8:30 pm: Workout Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 473; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 14, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Power and Strength Yoga

Again, I was feeling weak, particularly in my legs, which I'm sure was a carryover from two days ago. I took more than enough breaks because of that. I really liked the structure of the workout. Straight to the point, with all moves I'd done many times before. Plus there was a bit of mat work at then end, which I liked.

Start Time: 6:55 pm  Workout Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 481; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 15, 2020 - POWER NATION BETA 1 - Core Warrior 2

The moves weren't too bad. I'll just have to get them down, as there were a few I didn't see what sequences they were doing things.

Start Time: 8:15 pm; Workout Time: 21 minutes; Calories Burned: 164: avg Heart Rate: 112.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 157.2 (+0,4 lbs)
Body Fat" 12.7% (-0.1%)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I really wasn't ready to get back into things, but it had been three weeks rest, and I didn't want too much of this program going by without me giving it a shot. This week went OK. I'm not sure how I feel about the workouts, as it's only the first time I've done them.

WEEK OF 10/12/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 13

MONDAY - OCTOBER 12, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain Of Youth

Last week of the round. All yoga. My balance was scary bad today, but otherwise I enjoyed the workout.

Start: 9:00 pm; Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 347; Avg Heart Rate: 106.

TUESDAY - OCTOBER 13, 2010 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

This one is shorter and to the point. It was very relaxing today. My balance was a lot better than yesterday.

Start: 6:00 pm; Time: 36 minutes: Calories Burned: 230; Avg Heart Rate: 101.

WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 14, 2020 - TONY HORTON ON ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I'm starting to accept this one more as I get more used to it. Today might have been my best effort with it, I wasn't fighting it as much as I usually do. I just did it.

Start: 8:40 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 455; Avg Heart Rate: 105.

THURSDAY - OCTOBER 15, 2020 - TONY HORTON ON ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

A repeat of yesterday's workout and pretty much the same results. I just got it done. The time went fast.

Start:8:05 pm: Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 511; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 16, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

I didn't get started until late. I played golf this morning in really cold weather. When I got home I just chilled out and took a few naps. I knew this wasn't a long or intense workout, so I figured I'd get to it sooner or later. It wasn't my best effort. I can usually get through this one without coming out of too many moves early, but today was an exception. On both sides of the Warrior 3 sequences I struggled and couldn't hold the Half Moons. The Warrior 2's felt like they were being held forever. But I got through it.

Start: 9:25 pm: Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 208; Avg Heart Rate: 106.

SATURDAY - OCTOBER 17, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ONE ONE - Fountain Of Youth

This was my last workout of the round. It wasn't great, but not totally bad, either. I just wanted to finish things out.

Start: 7:10 pm; Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 303; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

SUNDAY - OCTOBER 18, 2020 - Rest

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 155.8 (-3.0 lbs)
Body Fat: 12.7% (.3%)

Big drops. I'm not eating enough, and I'm not eating well.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

All yoga. When I designed the schedule for this a few years ago, I needed something for week 13, and came up with the yoga idea. I wondered if it would be too much. It turns out, it's a perfect finish, because I'm finding by the time I get to this point, my body is pretty beat up. I really liked it.

THOUGHTS FOR THE ROUND

The One On One's don't get the credit they deserve. I always get great results with them. I've done multiple rounds of the Original P90X, X2, X3, and often times finding myself plateauing. Not with the One On One's. They're fun, and there's a constant variety, mixing in 36 workouts instead of the 12 to 16 of the other programs. My body is sore and beat up, as it always is when I finish this program, but I feel like I accomplished something. There are days when I don't feel like working out (more so than not), but I always get it done. Doing something with an enjoyable atmosphere makes it that much easier. I loved the round. Numbers wise, I lost 8.2 lbs and 1.6% body fat.

WHAT'S NEXT?

I'm going to take a few weeks off and then dive into Tony's Power Nation Beta 1 workouts. I'd like to jump in now, but my body does need a bit of a rest.

WEEK OF 10/05/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 12

MONDAY - OCTOBER 5, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - UBX

I re-arranged my living room, where I work out. I put up my dumbbell rack, and moved most of my equipment from another room into the living room. I do have more space to work out, and it felt cool to be grabbing weights off the rack. It's just a fresh feeling. The workout went well. A lot of tough moves, but I'm able to do them.

Start: 7:30 pm; Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 570; Avg Heart Rate: 120.

TUESDAY - OCTOBER 6, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Synergistics: MC2

I did most of the workout in some workout shoes I just got. They made a bit of a difference on some moves, but not a lot. I still struggle with a lot of these moves because my balance is bad. I'm very timid on the three different kinds of one legged plank burpees.

Start: 8:15 pm; Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 502; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 7, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - V-Sculpt (MC2)

I changed things up a bit today, just to give it some freshness. I like doing the band moves, as there are very few workouts that use them, unless as an option to a weight or pull-up move. I did the eight non-band moves, then repeated them, then I did the for band moves and repeated them. I figured I'd leave the good stuff to the end. I'm not sure it made any difference, but I liked the change. I did Ok overall. I probably could have used a bit more weight on some of the bicep moves, but I stuck with what I'd used before, which was probably stupid, as we're supposed to be growing a bit.

Start: 8:05 pm: Time: 56 minutes; Calories Burned: 540; Avg Heart Rate: 122.

THURSDAY - OCTOBER 8, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I was actually looking forward to this one today, even though I normally don't like it. I just needed some R and R because my body is feeling really beat up. It ended up being one of my best efforts at this workout. I just did it. I tried not to get too frustrated at things I struggle with. The room temperature was good, which as stupid as that sounds, makes a difference to me, especially on yoga routines. I still lost my balance quite a bit, but I just moved along.

Start: 7:40 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 473; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 9, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - P.A.P.

This is the last resistance workout of the round and I was looking forward to getting it done because my body is really tired. I got through it OK, even doing most of the warmup moves. The only move I had problems with was the Front To Back Lunges, because my balance is so bad. I did the workout in my new Xero workout shoes and they seemed to work better than a few days ago.

Start: 7:45 pm: Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 552; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - OCTOBER 10, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Stretch and Recovery

This is getting tougher for me. My flexibility has gotten worse in a lot of area, especially in my hips. It seems the more I'm working out, the worse my feet and ankles are twisting in, which is in turn causing my hips to close up. I think I need to seriously look at finding a solution. Today my left knee and ankle was really sore. The right knee and ankle was sore too, but not as much. My quads and hamstrings were also sore on both sides. I'm hoping most of the soreness goes away in the next week or so because I won't be doing a lot of jumping or weighted leg moves.

Start:6:40 pm; Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 278; Avg Heart Rate: 88.

SUNDAY - OCTOBER 11, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

I'm actually liking this one. I'm gotten used to most off the moves, even the strange ones near the end. None of them gave me too many problems. I did 20 reps of each, and did 120 Bicycles at the end.

Start: 7:55 pm; Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 253; Avg Heart Rate: 96.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 158.8 (+0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.0% (no change)

I'm still not eating well. I'm not eating enough and when I am, it's crap.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

As I said a few days ago, I'm glad the resistance workouts are done. My body is tired. This always happens near the end of a round, especially with this program. Next week is all yoga.

Monday, September 28, 2020

WEEK OF 9/28/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 11

MONDAY - SE{TEMBER 28, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Chest, Back and Balls

I did what I could. I've said this before, but when you're done with a set of pull-ups, you're done. At least for me, unless I take a thirty second break to possibly get onr or two more, I'm done. I did the push-ups until I didn't feel safe balancing on the balls. Overall, it was an OK workout. I don't give myself enough credit. These moves are hard, and I did them.

Start: 7:50 pm; Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 379; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyocide: MC2

This was a much better effort than two weeks ago. My coordination seemed to be back a bit. I still stumble on the balance moves, but most of the other ones went OK.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 499; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Shoulders and Arms: MC3

A good workout. Nothing exceptional, but steady. I didn't try to increase my weights on the Arnold Presses or Seated Bicep Curls because I wanted to keep the reps up. Last time I tried increasing the weight a few times and it didn't work. I guess I should have tried again, anf it didn't workm then I could have lowered the weight. Hindsight, but something to remember.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 539; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

THURSDAY - OCTOBER 1, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I was all over the place. I quit on a lot of the moves, just because I didn't feel like doing them. I've already repeated my feelings on this routine, so I'm not going to do it again.

Start: 9:45 pm: Time: 66 minutes: Calories Burned: 391; Avg Heart Rate: 99.

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 2, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Base and Back

I did OK. The pull-up numbers were close to normal for this routine, and I did 20 reps on each of the plyo moves.

Start: 8:00 pm: Time: 51 minutes; Calories Burned: 430; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - OCTOBER 3, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Total Body X: MC2

I finally got my Xero Shoes for my workouts. It took them three weeks to get here, and they came in the wrong color, but I'm keeping them. I've always worked out in bare feet, and my balance is horrible, so I was hoping these would help. I also have a tendency to slide around of my carpet a bit when doing fast cardio moves and thought these might grip better. My first reaction is they might grip too much on a mat. They definitely grip better on the carpet. I noticed my back foot doesn't twist as much when I'm in a lunge. They're also very light, so there isn't a noticeable weight difference. I think the more I use them, the more I'll get used to the nuances of using them. The workout went OK, but I think I got more tired than two weeks ago.

Start: 8:45 pm: Time: 42 minutes: Calories Burned: 396; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

SUNDAY - OCTOBER 4, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

Business as usual with this one. I was a bit un-coordinated on the Ball Through The Legs Behind The Back one, but I'd just discovered how to do it last time.

Start: 8:10 pm; Time: 45 minutes: Calories Burned: 312; Avg Heart Rate: 103.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 158.2 (-0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.-% (no change)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

This was the beginning week for Tony's Power Nation Beta Test workouts, but I'm sticking out the last three weeks of this round. These workouts are tough, and they're long, but I'm hanging in there, and I'm proud of that.

Monday, September 21, 2020

WEEK OF 9/21/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 10

MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - UBX

Tough workout, but I got through it pretty well. On the Side Arm Tricep Extensions Tony mentions that you could do them on on Bosu Ball. He didn't, but I did, so I tried them. They weren't pretty because I was losing my balance a lot. I wasn't bending my arm down too much because the weight (15 lbs) was too heavy. Everything else went fine.

Start: 7:30 pm: Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 531; Avg Heart Rate: 124.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Synergistics: MC2

Awful workout. I don't like it. There are a lot of one legged balance moves I have trouble with, almost to the point I might hurt myself. I got interrupted a few times, once just as I was beginning the Dreya Rolls with a Ball. Normally I can get a few in. Today, I was so discombobulated, I didn't get any in. During the day, I was actually looking forward to giving this one a run, because I knew I didn't like it. I'll try again next time.

Start: 8:30 pm: Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 570; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 23, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - V Sculpt: MC2

My body is tired. I came home and took a small nap, but it didn't help much. This was another one of those days where I didn't know how I was going to make it through the workout. There wasn't much of a warm up, so when he started, I just went faster than he did. When I got to the last bicep move of the first round, I couldn't remember how to do it, so I guessed a bit and figured I'd watch it when he did it. It also happened to be the first bicep move of the second round, so I skipped to the next bicep move. When he finally did it, I caught them up. I then did the secomd round totally out of sequence, leaving the four band moves to the end. I was generally OK on things. I'd used 30's on a lot of the bicep moves last time. Today, I used 25's because I was feeling a bit weak. I did start with 30's on Down The Rack, however. I think I did a few less reps than last time on some of the pull-ups, but I get another crack at it in two weeks.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 56 minutes; Calories Burned: 504; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I was in a much better frame of mind than when I usually do this workout. It seemed to move along faster, and I didn't get as frustrated with it as I usually do. I was still stumbling on a lot of the poses, but kept trying. I'm convinced my balance is getting worse. I used to be able to hold poses like Tree or Warrior 3, but now I can't even get into them. Overall, though, I was pleased with my effort today.

Start: 8:35 pm: Time: 66 minutes: Calories Burned: 515; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - P.A.P.

I played golf this morning and was super lethargic. My body is just very tired. It could be from overtraining, bad diet, or not getting enough sleep. It's probably a combination of all three, and something I have to concentrate on getting better with. I didn't feel like doing the workout, either. It's very long. I didn't do any of the 15 to 20 minute "warm-up" moves, instead I washed some dishes that I though needed washing at the moment. I got though the complexes and most of the cool down moves. The only problems I had were on the Front to Back Lunges, where my balance was horrible, and the Plyo Push-ups, where I did three of the four sets from my knees. I held the Side Planks and Chaturanga Planks for thirty seconds on almost all of the sets. Overall, it wasn't a great workout/ I feel a bit guilty about dogging the warm-up.

Start: 7:45 pm; Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 453; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 26, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Stretch and Recovery

One thing I've noticed over the past few years is that I stay sore longer than I had, and that I'm not as flexible as I used to be. I used to be able to do most of the moves in this workout to some extent. Maybe I wasn't as flexibles as Tony, but at least I was able to get into the stretch and hold it for as long as he did. The last few times I did this workout, that wasn't the cast. Today there was a number of moves I could barely get into, and a lot more that I couldn't hold too long. I don't know if that was from a lack of willpower, or aging. I'm going to try and work at getting flexible again. I'll add that to my list of things to concentrate on.

Start: 8:50 pm; Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 278; Avg Heart Rate: 93.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 27, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

No problems with any of the moves. I went faster than he did and finished about for moves ahead of him. I just watched the rest.

Start: 7:30 pm: Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 228; Avg Heart Rate: 97.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 158.8 (-2.0 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.0% (-0.6%)

I think that might be the largest Body Fat drop I've had in a week, but it could be an aberration.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Once again, my body is exhausted, which usually happens around this time in each round. Volume Three is a bear. There's no relief. Tony Horton's new program, Power Nation, is supposed to start tomorrow with six "Beta" (test) workouts, but I'm going to hold off on that and finish the last three weeks of this round. I feel loyal to it, because it's given me such great results over the past few years.

Monday, September 14, 2020

WEEK OF 9/14/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 9

MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Chest, Back and Balls

This is the start of month three, and Volume Three. This one is tough. I did OK on most of the push-up moves, even getting in three "Possible" Push-ups. I also did OK on the pull-ups, but my numbers were a bit lower than last time. Sometimes the strength just wasn't there. Overall, I was pleased with what I did, and I feel real good afterwards.

Start: 7:15 pm: Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 565; Avg Heart Rate: 121.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 15, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyocide: MC2

Poor effort. I was feeling sluggish in general. My legs were feeling heavy and I had no spring in them. I was also feeling uncoordinated, as there were some moves I had to do in slow motion, like the Mary Katherine lunges. The good thing is that I muddled through it and didn't quit. My heart monitor also died.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 520; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 16, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Shoulders and Arms: MC2

Somebody asked me at work today: "How do you have the motivation to work out every day?" My answer is always the same. "I just do it.". It's really that simple. Most days I don't feel like working out. Some days I put it off as long as possible, but I always know I'm going to get it done. I don't try and rationalize reasons not to do it. If there is any motivation, it's that I'm doing what 99% of the population won't. I also like the way it makes me feel and look. It makes me feel good when somebody tells me I look great, or that I wish I could do what you do. Today's workout was old school weights. On the Arnold Presses I used 30's. I did 8 reps on the first set, then only got in 6 on the second two sets, as my form was going bad quickly. On the Seated Bicep Curls I did 12 reps with 30's on the first set. I tried 35's on the second set, but only did 4. I went back to 30's on the third set and did another 12. I haven't been lifting a lot of heavy weight lately, so maybe that's the problem, or maybe it's just because I'm getting older. Either way, I'm playing it smart. I know when my form is going bad, so I stop. I really should finish up with more reps with a lower weight. That's a note for next time. Overall, it was a good workout. There's really no days off in Volume Three.

Start: 8:10 pm; Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 536; Avg Heart Rate: 124..

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 17, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I normally don't like this one, but I went into it with an open frame of mind. That didn't work. This workout is too long. Many of the poses are repetitive. By the time the fourth sequence came around and I was doing my fifth set of Shoulder Stretches and reverse twists and so on, I was just getting pissed off. Any sense of zen and calmness I should have during a yoga session went out the window. I usually don't skip moves, but I found myself walking around the mat or just going to my knees for periods of time. I'll try netter next time.

Start: 7:15 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 545; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 18- 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Base and Back: MC2

I was tired when I got home and was putting this off as long as I could. I know Tony labors through this one. I never has as much problem with it, but he's doing more reps than I am, on both the plyo moves and the pull-up moves. I started the regular workout during his warm up and never stopped. I finished both sets while he was just beginning the second set. I then just layed on the floor and watched him finish up. I found my rep counts on my pull-ups were almost identical to when I last did the workout in February. I did 20 reps on the plyo moves. I probably could have done a few more if I'd really wanted to push myself, but I guess I was content not to. I think that's a mindset I'll have to work on to improve.

Start: 8:40 pm; Time: 51 minutes; Calories Burned: 416; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 19, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Total Body X: MC2

I did OK. There are a few tough moves here, but I got through them OK.

Start: 6:05 pm: Time: 42 minutes; Calories Burned: 276; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 20, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2: MC2

I did 20 reps on each and 100 Bicycles at the end. Not as many reps on some of the moves than he did, but I think I did pretty good.

Start: 7:40 pm: Time: 45 minutes: Calories Burned: 188; Avg Heart Rate: 94.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 160.8 (-0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.6% (+0.3%)

Last week my weight went up and my body fat decreased. This week it was the opposite.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Tough workouts, but I got through them OK.

Monday, September 7, 2020

WEEK OF 9/7/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 8

MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 7, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Upper Body Balance

I was tired all day and took a few naps. I was feeling really sluggish for the workout. Things went OK. On many of the moves I did more reps than two weeks ago, but I was really tiring in the second half. I came off the balls a few times during the push-ups, went to my knees for a few seconds, then continued. My strength just wasn't there.

Start: 7:15 pm;  Time:53 minutes; Calories Burned: 493; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg For Legs

I did the best I could, which wasn't much, but I tried/

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 403; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Back and Belly

The pull-ups went OK, but I came off the bar more times than usual. I did, however, get back up on the bar more than usual, so that's a good thing.

Start: 7:15 pm; Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 315; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

At the beginning I was trying to concentrate on my breathing, as he often says. That lasted about ten minutes, but it's a start. The rest of the workout was a bunch of stumbling and bumbling, as I'm trying to be perfect a lot of the time, which causes rigidity in my moves, and causes loss of balance. All these years of yoga, and I'm still learning.

Start: 7:35 pm; Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 207; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 100/30/20

I was better on the jump rope than two weeks ago. I also finished the 100 jumps in the bonus section, which I didn't do last time. 18 misses to get to 100. I felt pretty good afterwards.

Start: 6:00 pm;  Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 337; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 12, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Confusion: Mason's Choice

I got this one done early. It went well. I tried putting on my Xero shoes half way through to see if it would keep me from sliding on the carpet a bit, and improving my balance. I think it did a little, so I ended up ordering a pair of their shoes made for working out. We'll see what happens when I get them.

Start: 9:15 am; Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 361; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

This is my ;ast time doing this one this round, and I'll miss it, as it is my favorite ab routine. Today went well. I even got up in most of the Banana Boats.

Start: 9:20 pm; Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 242; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 161.4 (+1.8 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.3% (-0.1%)

The weight is bouncing over and under 160 each week. It's OK, because I don't want to lose too much more weight. The drop in body fat is good. People are constantly telling me I'm looking good.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

The workouts went pretty well. I like Volume Two. I'm sore every day. I always get sore when I reach this part of the program, and I can never figure out why. I finally realized it might be the Jumping Rope. My arms are the sorest, with my legs coming in a close second. There are three workous where there is Rope Jumping.

Monday, August 31, 2020

WEEK OF 8/31/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 7

MONDAY - AUGUST 31, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Ball Sandwich

All day long I was thinking I was supposed to do Upper Body Balance then remembered it was supposed to be this one. I did the moves, but the intensity wasn't there. I don't think my form was too good, either. I also went faster than he did, finishing a few moves ahead of him. I just wanted to get it done.

Start: 7:45 pm; Time: 41 minutes; Calories Burned: 433; Avg Heart Rate: 126.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 1, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Butt and Belly

A good workout today. As I've said before, I like this one.

Start: 8:40 pm; Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 429; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 2, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg

I only got about 30 minutes of sleep last night. I got through work OK, felt good when I got home, then took a nap that turned into about three hours. I started after 9 pm, but got it in. I still can't balance, but did my best.

Start: 9:20 pm  Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 317; Avg Heart Rate: 120.

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 3, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

I wasn't as relaxed as I could have been, but my mind was right. I'm still struggling with alignment in some of the poses and a lot if it is due to where my bone structure is. I'm realizing my hips are a lot tighter and closed than they should be. When I'm in Warrior 2 it's tough to square up. Little things like that are becoming more noticeable and are things I can work on.

Start: 8:05 pm; Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 246; Avg Heart Rate: 104.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 4, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 10 Minute Crusher Pack

I normally don't go real hard at this one, but today I did. I got in all 12 reps on the hanging ab moves. The leg moves went OK. The jump ropes were a lot better than last week. I didn't have too many misses.

Start: 9:10 pm;  Time: 33 minutes; Calories Burned: 228; Avg Heart Rate:121.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 5, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Intervals

Perfect day for this one. I'm drained and needed something that wasn't going to beat the hell out of me. Not too many moves are super tough, but you can get winded.

Start: 6:55 pm;  Time: 41 minutes; Calories Burned: 301; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 6, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

Not bad. Average for this workout. Struggled again with the second set of Banana Boat's, but that is norma; Even Tony is struggling with them.

Start: 8:55 pm;  Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 224; Avg Heart Rate: 98.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 159.6 (-0,4 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.4% (-0.1%)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Not feeling too good mentally this week. A bit depressed. Work is getting to me. I got through the workouts. I did more than just going through the motions, but can't say I really killed any of them. I did do better than usual on 10 Minute Crusher Pack and Cardio Intervals, so that's good.

WEEK OF 8/24/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 6

MONDAY - AUGUST 24, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Upper Body Balance

I wasn't really in the mood to push myself. I did the exercises, but my form was probably bad, and I know I wasn't going to deep on the push-ups. Most of my rep counts were lower than when I last did this in December.

Time: 53 minutes; Calories Burned: 434; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

TUESDAY - AUGUST 25, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg For Legs

Knowing I really can't balance on one leg, I went into it with no real expectations. Nothing magical happened. I still can't balance on one leg. I just wanted to keep a somewhat decent attitude and get it over with. He did a very long warm-up and a very long cool down, both which I pretty much sat around and watched.

Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 399; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

WEDNESDAY - AUGUST 26, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Back and Belly

Although pull-ups aren't my strength I do like this workout. It's short and to the point. I wasn't sure how I'd fare with the pull-ups because I hadn't done them in a while, but I did pretty good. Wide pull-ups are toughest for me and I started with eight (6, came off the bar, then did 2 more). I matched or beat all my numbers from last time. I had no problems with the ab moves. The only one where I did less than last time were on the V-up Roll-ups, where I did 32 today and 38 last time. I don't like them, so I stopped at 32, just because. The big victory, though, was on the final move, the Seven Point Pull-ups. I got the initial seven in. The next seven started with the wide pull-ups. I can never get started again, so I made a lame effort, gave up, and put my pull-up bar away in shame. I didn't want to end the workout like that, so I put the pull-up bar back up, got through the wide grip one, then finished the other six with no problem. I tried go go again, but had nothing left. I knew I was done.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 75; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

THURSDAY - AUGUST 27, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

Not my best effort. I just wasn't totally there physically, losing my balance, etc.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 210; Avg Heart Rate: 99.

FRIDAY - AUGUST 28, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE  100/30/20

Today is my 63rd birthday. I had to get this one done between work and a fantasy football draft I had to monitor. I was pretty bad on the Jump Ropes. My numbers were way down on the last few timesI did this routine. At the end, when he's trying to do 100 straight, I try to see how few misses I can have to get to 100 jumps. It's usually around 20, most of them being near the end. Today I quit at 29 jumps and 9 misses. It just wasn't happening. My knee is sore, so I may have been babying it. I was good on the crunches and push-ups. On the max push-up move, I did 70, which I thought was good.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 301; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

SATURDAY - AUGUST 29, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Confusion: Mason's Choice

This is one of my favorite workouts and one I always look forward to. I struggled a bit today. My feet were sliding a bit on the carpet so I wasn't going all out. I still enjoyed it, though.

Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 322; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

SUNDAY - AUGUST 30, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

Very smooth except for a few of the Banana Boats.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 152; Avg Heart Rate: 94.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 160.0 (+2.0 lbs)
Body Fat" 13.5% (+0.3%)

A bounce back up from last week.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm sore and my mind is elsewhere. I'm fighting the workouts.

Monday, August 17, 2020

WEEK OF 8/17/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 5

MONDAY - AUGUST 17, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Ball Sandwich

Already into the second month and the Volume 2 workouts. I think these are my favorites. Tony seems to be in a really good mood for most of them. I'm really sore, especially my shoulders and traps,  and was a little timid going into this one.My reps were a bit lower than the last time I did this in January. However, I did work at it. I feel good afterwards.

Time: 41 minutes; Calories Burned: 261 (Heart Rate Monitor problems again); Avg Heart Rate: 108.

TUESDAY - AUGUST 18, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Butt and Belly

This is a fun workout for me, and I did well today. The 8 Card Pickups are becoming easier for me and I did OK on the Frog Squats too, The Belly moves went well.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 240: Avg Heart Rate: 112.

WEDNESDAY - AUGUST 19, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg

This is usually a throw a way workout for me because I can't balance on one leg. I get frustrated and go though the motions. Today I did my best. On a lot of the moves. I used a medicine ball below my lifted leg so I could tap it between reps. On others I just tapped the floor. I tapped on almost every single rep. However, when I was actually lifting the weight I tried lifting the leg off the floor, thus tightening my core briefly. I used 15 lb weights throughout and did 15 reps throughout (except on the 21;s).

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 318; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

THURSDAY - AUGUST 20, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

I was having a problem holding many of the poses as long as he did, especially the Warrior 2 pose. It looks so simple, but for some reason I always struggle with it in this workout. Otherwise, I enjoy this workout because it's done at a relaxing pace and there aren't any crazy poses.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 294; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

FRIDAY - AUGUST 21, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 10 Minute Crusher Pack

I surprised myself a bit on the hanging abs by holding myself up long enough to do 12 reps on almost all of the moves. I was pretty bad on the jump ropes, partly because I was a bit timid with them.

Time: 33 minutes; Calories Burned: 256; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - AUGUST 22, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Intervals

I like this one. There are only a few moves I really don't like. The problem with the cardio workouts, I'm finding, is that I'm having a hard time going full blast. My balance is horrible, which affects my feet movement, so I often can't go as fast as he does. Still, for the length of this workout, I burned a lot of calories.

Time: 41 minutes; Calories Burned: 338; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SUNDAY - AUGUST 23, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

This is probably my favorite ab workout even though it's one of the longest. I like the pace and the moves. I did well. I think my only burp was on a few of the Banana Boats during the second set.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 216; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 158.0 (-2.2 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.2% (-0.3 %)

Normally I'd be happy, but I'm just not eating enough.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I like the Volume Two workouts. They might seem less than P90X-esque to some, but they get results. I'm sore almost all the time.

Monday, August 10, 2020

WEEK OF 8/10/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 4

MONDAY - AUGUST 10, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Recovery 4 Results

I absolutely ate like super crap at work today. Stress eating. When I got home my body basically shut down and told me to go screw myself. I was totally exhausted. I felt a bit better after a few hours and got this one in. It was a perfect day for a recovery workout and a rude reminder to take care of myself.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 268; Avg Heart Rate: 106.

TUESDAY - AUGUST 11, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Bun Shaper

I was feeling a bit out of it when I got home. The heat is getting to me a bit. It's not excessively hot, but it's been humid forever, and that wears on me. I took a bit of a nap when I got home, then did the workout. It went pretty good. My right knee is still a bit sore and I noticed it the most on the side kicks. The Eight Card pickup is the meanest move of the bunch, but I did quite well on that both times. I even did OK on the Sit Downs, which I usually don't like.

Time:49 minutes; Calories Burned: 488; Avg Heart Rate: 122.

WEDNESDAY - AUGUST 12, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Diamond Delts

I used to be able to 8 reps with 40's a few years ago, but I've struggled with anything more than 30's the last few times. I saw from my sheets that I did 10 reps with 30's two weeks ago. Today I did 12 reps on the first set. I decided to try 40's on the second set and couldn't get them over my head, but I did get another 12 reps in. Something to work at. On all the other moves I pretty much did the same reps with the same weights I'd used the last few times.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 332; Avg Heart Rate: 120..

THURSDAY - AUGUST 13, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain Of Youth

My mind was wandering, but the workout went OK. I lost my balance several times, which I normally do, but otherwise things weren't feeling forced.

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 337; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

FRIDAY - AUGUST 14, 2920 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Mammoth UML

I took it move by move and it went well. I was relatively relaxed throughout.

Time:55 minutes; Calories Burned: 372; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SATURDAY - AUGUST 15, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Medicine Ball Core Cardio

For some reason I can never go full blast on this one and it's due to a total lack of coordination on my part. I keep losing my balance. I find myself ending up on my heel on a lot of the moves. I still was breathing heavy at the end. Heart Rate Monitor crapped out a few times, too.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 221; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

SUNDAY - AUGUST 16, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

I did it without the video again, and again I did it out of sequence, getting the harder moves done first. I did get interrupted a few times. It ended up going OK. I got 50 Mason Twists in, where before I couldn't get past 40. Today I did them halfway through the workout, instead of at the end, so that might have had somehing to do with it.

Time: 18 minutes; Calories Burned: 114; Avg Heart Rate: 99.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN:

Weight: 160.4 (-3.0 lbs)

Body Fat: 13.6% (-0.3%)

Good numbers, but I'm just not eating well. In fact, I'm not eating much. The constant heat is draining me.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

This is the lowest weight and body fat % I've been at since I started in 2008. I'm probably at a lower weigh than I should be, but I do feel good and toned.

Monday, August 3, 2020

WEEK OF 0/03/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 3

MONDAY - AUGUST 3, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 30-15

I wasn't feeling like doing this one when I got home. I took a small nap, which sometimes refreshes me, but when I woke, I still was wondering how I'd get though it. My numbers were 30 push-ups and 6 pull-ups, which is what I'd been doing lately. It ended up being one of the worst workouts I've done in a long time. The push-ups went OK, but I could barely do any pull-ups. I was constantly coming off the bar, I was kipping, I wasn't getting all the way over the bar. Just horrible. On the bright side, I was able to get in an additional 65 push-ups while he was finishing up, so I did 425 total..

Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 421; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

TUESDAY - AUGUST 4, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyo Legs

I think I've said before that this is one of the toughest of all the One On One's, if not the toughest. I was determined to bounce back from yesterday's mess and do my best, which is exactly what happened. I took the moves one by one. I usually am toast by the last few moves and can barely get off the floor, but today was a bit better at the end. I did take a small two minute break with three moves left, which I'm sure helped, but it was the only break I took in the entire workout. There were a few moves I didn't go all the way to the ground, like the Dead Lift Squats and the 4 Corners, but others I did, like the Side Long Jumps and the Side Lunge Reaches (with an 8 lb medicine ball). Overall, I was very happy with my effort. A good bounce back.

Time: 63 minutes; Calories Burned: 5578; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

WEDNESDAY - AUGUST 5, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Just Arms

Another good workout. Most times I try to top what I did the last time, but today I tried to play it smart. On the Bicep Curls, I did them standing. He says you can lift more seated, which is what I did two weeks ago,but I find otherwise, and tested it today. On the first set I used 35's and got in 10 reps (had 8 reps two weeks ago). On the second set I was feeling a bit frisky and pulled out 40's. I only got 4 reps in, and they were a bit ugly, but I could see myself being able to handle them as I guild my strength back up. Two weeks ago I strained my left arm by using 25's on the Tricep Kickbacks and it affected the rest of the workout. Instead of tempting fate I went down to 20's and they worked well. I was able to finish up with the weights I'd used in the past, including going back to 20's on the Crazy 8's.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 340; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

THURSDAY - AUGUST 6, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain Of Youth

This was my best yoga routine in a long time. I was a bit calmer than usual, probably because I cut down on my pop consumption the last two days. My balance was a bit better than usual. My concentration level was better also. My balance is still very poor, but at least today I was dealing with it and trying to fight through it, rather than just getting flustered and giving up.

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 331; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

FRIDAY - AUGUST 7, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Road Warrior

I wore my sneakers to stand on the bands. I also pulled out a few bands ahead of time to prepare myself. I used the Yellow band on the bicep and squat moves. I used the maroon band on the moves there I had to push them way over my head, It went Ok, but I really wasn't in the mood. I'd pulled aout a Red band to use on some of the moves, but the nandle broke on the first move with it. When I reached the hal way point of the workout, I hit pause and spent about 10 minutes trying to fix the handle, mostly because I didn't feel like finishing the workout. However, I did finiih.

Time: 53 minutes; Calories Burned: 355; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - AUGUST 8, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Super Cardio

I wasn't really looking forward to this one, but I wasn't dreading it either, as this is one of the easier workouts. I didn't get to it until mid-evening. I had problems with my legs getting real heavy in the second section. I could barely get off the ground on the 180 Jumps and could barely move my legs on the last set of DB Scoots. I'd mowed the lawn earlier in the day, so maybe that had something to do with it, but it never bothered me that much before. Maybe it's what I'm eating.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 364; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SUNDAY - AUGUST 9, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

I did this one late, and I did it without the video, while I was watching the hockey game. I also did it out of sequence. I did a few of the Ab Ripper (Power 90) moves, then got the harder Ab Ripper X (P90X) moves out of the way before finishing up what I hadn't done. The moves felt a lot easier then the have in the past. The only one that didn't go smoothly were the Mason Twists. I did 32, came down for a second, then finished the final eight. I didn't go for more than that, because I was struggling.

Time: 19 minutes; Calories Burned: 119; Avg Heart Rate: 99.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 163.4 (+1.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.9% (+0.2%)

I didn't eat great. I had a full container of Macaroni Salad (with mayo) over the last two days, which probably didn't help.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I recovered nicely after Monday's disappointment, and got a few good workouts in. I'm sore, though, which can be expected. That concept never seems to go away, no matter how long you've been at it.
I guess it's a good sore.

Monday, July 27, 2020

WEEK OF 07/27/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 2

MONDAY - JULY 27, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Recovery 4 Results

I needed this today. I wasn't feeling too well and am not sure how I would have handles something more strenuous. I'm drinking too much pop again, and that's not helping.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 294; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

TUESDAY - JULY 28, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Bun Shaper

One of my favorites. I got all the reps in. My right knee has a small tweak in it, but I got through it OK.

Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 434; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

WEDNESDAY - JULY 29, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Diamond Delts

I did Ok, but I really struggled with the Shoulder Presses and the Arnold Presses. I used to be able to use 40's on the Shoulder Presses. Today I was fighting 30's. On the Arnold Presses I'm usually Ok with 25's and 12 reps. Today I used the 25's, but barely got in 10 reps. I'm hoping it's just because I hadn't done these moves in a while, but I do remember the same situation when I did similar moves in Power 90.

Time: 36 minutes: Calories Burned: 279; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

THURSDAY - JULY 30, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain Of Youth

My mind was elsewhere, so it wasn't the best yoga workuut, but it wasn't horrible, either. Fact: my balance is really bad because of my bad feet and ankles.I'll keep working at it and do the best I can.

Time: 47 minutes; Calories Burned: 339; Avg Heart Rate: 105.

FRIDAY - JULY 31, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Mammoth UML

Nothing of too much note. I got through it. I did a few less reps than he did on a few of the moves, but for the most part I kept up.

Time: 55 minutes; Calories Burned: 396; Avg Heart Rate: 105.

SATURDAY - AUGUST 1, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Med Ball Core Cardio

I was feeling pretty good going into it. I started out well, but for some reason my feet were sliding on the carpet and my body became uncoordinated with some of the moves, like the Press Jacks and Twister. That became a bit frustrating, but overall I did what I could and my attitude was good.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 326; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

SUNDAY - AUGUST 2, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

It went a bit better than last week. I still only got 40 Mason Twists in, with a small couple seconds break around the 30 mark. I'd like to get at least 50 in with no breaks.

Time: 24 minutes; Calories Burned: 156; Avg Heart Rate: 102.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 162.0 (-2.0 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.7% (-0.6%)

Both are good drops.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm still drinking too much pop which is making me a bit hyper, but other than that I feel OK. I'm certainly feeling more toned. The workouts went fairly well.

Monday, July 20, 2020

WEEK OF 07/20/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 1

MONDAY - JULY 20, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 30-15

I took five weeks off, which is two or three more than I wanted to, but I just wasn't ready. I'm comfortable with that decision. Sometimes you just have to listen to yourself.

Starting Weight: 163.4; Starting Body Fat: 14.3%.

Today's numbers were 30 push-ups and 6 pull-ups. I haven't done any serious numbers in either of those areas in months, so I was a bit concerned on how I'd hold up, especially on the pull-ups. I got in all the push-ups with relatively little problem, but I was tiring in the last third of the workout. I finished a bit before Tony did, so I did 60 bonus push-ups while he was finishing up. That totaled 420 push-ups, which is what I'd done the last two times I did this workout. I got in the six pull-ups on each set, but a lot of them were ugly, with a lot of kipping. I only came off the bar once though, near the end, as I was toast. Overall, it was a good workout, especially with the time off. I'm sure I'm going to feel it in a few days, but I also know I'll feel good after the workouts.

Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 508; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

TUESDAY - JULY 21, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyo Legs

This is a tough one, but I was semi looking forward to it because of the challenge and because I felt so good yesterday after getting back into things. It wasn't my best effort, but I didn't dog it. I just wasn't able to go too deep on a lot of the moves, especially near the end.

Time: 63 minutes; Calories Burned: 562; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

WEDNESDAY - JULY 22, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Just Arms

I started with 8 reps of 35's on the Seated Bicep Curls and I did OK. I did have a problem mid-way through the workout when I noticed I was really struggling with my left arm on the Tricep Kickbacks. I was using 25's, which are a bit heavy, but I've used them before. The real problem came on the 21's, where my left arm wasn't handling the upper 7's. I almost dropped the weights. On the second set of those I dropped down from 25's to 20's, and I seemed to be OK. So as not to cause an accident and play it safe, I only used 15's on the Crazy 8's instead of the usual 20's. Hopefully I'll be a bit stronger next time.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 412; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

THURSDAY - JULY 23, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Fountain Of Youth Yoga

I haven't done too much yoga in four or five months. I was looking forward to it because I was really sore and yoga usually helps that go away. I could barely bend over at the beginning, and by the end I was moving a lot better. My balance was bad, but I'm hoping that will get better.

Time:47 minutes; Calories Burned: 349; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

FRIDAY - JULY 24, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Road Warrior

I had bought some expensive resistance bands several months ago with this workout in mind. I was a bit timid with the Beachbody bands because I've had them snap at the handles a few times. I was anxious to try out the new ones. The bands had a place where you could clip the handle on, so it didn't look like there was anyway it could snap there. I used what looked like a mid-range band to start out with, but there was barely any tension. At the beginning of the second set I switched to the toughest (black) band. It sucked too. Barely any tension or stretch. I'm very disappointed. The key to this workout is finding the right band and placing your feet on it in the right places. I've yet to do that on this workout. A I also forgot to do the bicycles at the end. I was putting things away while he was doing the cool down, so I missed it.

Time: 53 minutes; Calories Burned: 363; Avg Heart Rate: 103.

SATURDAY - JULY 25, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE  Super Cardio

I didn't start this one until about 9:15 pm. I'd done some yard work earlier in the day that rally tired me out. I then took a nap that was longer than usual, and time got away from me. This isn't the toughest workout in the bunch, so I knew I'd get it done. My legs are still a bit sore. I didn't go real deep on the Twisty Lunge things because I hate them, but other than that, things went OK. Mid way through I got this weird feeling of pride that I'm doing all this. I feel good and people tell me I look good.

Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 352; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

SUNDAY - JULY 26, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Killer Abs

I was a bit rusty. I really struggled with the Oblique V-ups and the Mason Twists, where I stopped for a few seconds about four times.

Time: 24 minutes; Calories Burned: 161; Avg Heart Rate: 104.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 164.0 (+0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 14.3% (no change)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

It felt good to get back at it. The first part of the week was better than the last half.

WEEK OF 06/08/2020 - POWER 90 - ROUND 1 - WEEK 13

MONDAY - JUNE 8, 2020 - POWER 90 - Sculpt Circuit 1-2

Last week of the round. This one and Sculpt 3-4 can be tough if you push yourself, which I have been. I used the same weights I did before. I'd added three pull-up moves into the circuit before. Today I decided to skip them during the circuit, then felt guilty when I was done, so I did the three moves at the end. Turns out my arms were fried, so I wasn't able to do too many, but at least I tried. Heart Rate monitor wasn't working.

Time: 29 minutes; Calories Burned: ???; Avg Heart Rate: ???.

TUESDAY - JUNE 9, 2020 - POWER 90 - Sweat Cardio 1-2

I like this one. I didn't kill myself, but did keep pace with them

Time:41 minutes: Calories Burned: 345; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

WEDNESDAY - JUNE 10, 2020 - POWER 90 - Sculpt Circuit 3-4

This workout is probably the toughest one in the entire round, and I've been dreading doing it again for weeks. However, I got home and got it done. I even included the four pull-up sets I added into the circuit. As with the Sculpt 1-2 I did two days ago, the pull-ups were pretty much worthless. I'm out of practice with them, and I was really tired when trying them today. With one exception, I used the same weights on the moves that I'd used six weeks ago. I used 30's on the Bicep Curls, then saw I'd been using 35's the last few times. The only move I really struggled with was the Out Bicep Curls. Other than that it was tiring. I did rake a lot of mini breaks, bot overall I'm pleased with the effort. I certainly just didn't go through the motions.

Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 378; Avg Heart Rate: 127.

THURSDAY - JUNE 11, 2020 - POWER 90 - Sweat Cardio 3-4 + Ab Ripper 200

I really like this one, even more than Sweat 1-2. The workout went well. As I've said before, Ab Ripper 200 is the perfect ab workout for me. I like the moves and pace, and 20 reps each seems about right. I feel it, too.

Time: 49 minutes; Calories Burned: 381; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

FRIDAY - JUNE 12, 2020 - POWER 90 - Sculpt 5-6

I played golf again this morning. My body is tired, a bit stiff, and sore. Even though I didn't remember it being as difficult as Sculpt 3-4, I wasn't looking forward to it. I finally started id mid-evening and got it done. I didn't take any breaks until the mid-point, then took a few after that. My weights and reps were the same as last time, except forone of the bicep moves where I dropped from 30's to 25's just because I thought I'd be struggling with the 30's because I was really tired. This is the last strength workout of the round, and I'm glad, because my body really needs a break.

Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 415; Avg Heart Rate: 121.

SATURDAY - JUNE 13 - 2020 - POWER 90 - Sweat 5-6

Final workout of the round. This was light cardio for about 20 minutes, with the rest being warm up and stretch moves. A good way to finish for me,

Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 292; Avg Heart Rate: 106.

SUNDAY - JUNE 14, 2020 - Rest

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 165.2 (-0,8 lbs)
Body Fat: 14.7% (+0.1%)

This is the lowest weight I've been since I started all this in 2008. I feel pretty good.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I was dreading the resistance (Sculpt) workouts this week because my body is beat up, but I got through them. The Sweat workouts were fun. I'm trying to cut down on the amount o pop I'm drinking because I know it's affecting my mood. I had been drinking close to three bottles a day. This week I only had two bottles for the entire week.

THOUGHTS FOR THE ROUND

Numbers wise, I lost about 4 lbs and .7% body fat. Those don't look like big numbers, but I feel more toned. I wanted to try Power 90 because I'd been using advanced workouts and my body had been feeling beat up. I'd heard it was a good program and I'd seen people get good results with it. I thought it would be a good way to maintain things over the 90 days. It turns out it was more than that. It could be used as a starter program if you wanted it to be, but I decided to push myself and the Sculpt workouts were tough. I'm not sure they were P90X tough, but they were up there. I was a bit disappointed in the Master Series workouts. Some of them seemed easier than the 1-2 and 3-4 workouts. The Power Half Hour workouts seemed to be the easiest by far (except for Arm Toner which was tough), but I did get sore using them. Using Ho' Ala Ke Kino on Sundays was a good way to end the week. Overall, this was a bit tougher than I thought it would be. I would highly recommend Power 90 to anyone. I'm happy I did it and might do it again in the near future.

Monday, June 1, 2020

WEEK OF 06/01/2020 - POWER 90 - ROUND 1 - WEEK 12

MONDAY - JUNE 1, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Ab Burner

Better than the last two weeks. More so on the standing moves, where I wasn't dogging it as much. I'm OK on the mat moves, where I think most of the gains are. Those are more like an Ab Ripper X routine.

Time: 30 minutes: Calories Burned: 224; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

TUESDAY - JUNE 2, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Thigh Trimmer

I'm thinking this might be the easiest of the Power half Hour workouts, outside of Stretch. I did OK today.

Time:30 minutes; Calories Burned: 254; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

WEDNESDAY - JUNE 3, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Arm Toner

I got through it with a few well placed mini breaks. Same wights as last time. It's tough to increase weights at times because if you do, you run the risk of burning yourself out at the pace they're going.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 372: Avg Heart Rate:138.

THURSDAY - JUNE 4, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Stretch

A good stretch. Nothing exceptional, but I do look forward to stretch days. The break is needed, especially mentally.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 194; Avg Heart Rate: 102.

FRIDAY - JUNE 5, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Bun Shaper

I played golf today for the first time this year. I played really bad. My whole body was sore before I began. The heat and humidity was sneaky. I went through a lot of water and couldn't wait to get into my car and turn on the a/c. Once I got home It took me a long while to get into the workout. I wasn't at my best. When done, I just laid on the floor for about 30 minutes. I didn't even have the strength to roll up my mat. Pretty pathetic.

Time: 30 minutes: Calories Burned: 271; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

SATURDAY - JUNE 6, 2020 - POWER 90 - Fat Burning Express

Nothing of note. I was a bit better on a couple of the plyo moves because I knew what to expect and how he was counting. I still didn't use the ned ball, just because I didn't want to.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 286; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

SUNDAY - JUNE 7, 2020 - TONY HORTON - Ho' Ala Ke Kino

I put this one off until late. I just didn't feel like doing it. Even though this is pretty much a stretch routine, which I generally like, he has about eight minutes of high pace "Power Yoga" near the end, complete with two push-up with every vinyasa. Instead of relaxing, it's frenetic, and it tires you out quickly. This is my last time doing it this round. In the end, it is a good workout for a Sunday.

Time: 27 minutes; Calories Burned: 142; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 166.0 (-0.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 14.6% (-0.1%)

Once again, a new low.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm still in my deep, depressive funk. The Power Half Hour workouts, except for Arm Toner, aren't particularly hard, but I'm still getting sore, so I guess they're working. My body is getting real tired, especially my legs. Only one week to go.

WEEK OF 05/25/2020 - POWER 90 - ROUND 1 - WEEK 11

MONDAY - MAY 25, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Ab Burner

I don't think this is going to be a favorite of mine. There are a few of the standing moves that I think are cardio only and aren't really working the abs too much. If I was in the mood for cardio, that would be one thing, but as it was, I wasn't in the mood. I just felt sluggish all the way through.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 221; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

TUESDAY - MAY 26, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Thigh Trimmer

I really don't know what to say. Very simple moves. The half hour goes very slowly because it's tedious. Tony doesn't even seem like he wants to be there. During the workout it was hurting my knees. However, I got it done and felt a little better when it was over. I have no idea how I burned 273 calories.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 273; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

WEDNESDAY - MAY 27, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Arm Toner

I knew this was going to be the toughest workout of the week, by far, so I wasn't looking forward to it. I was thinking of doing iy with bands because I just bought some new ones, but ultimately decided to push myself and use weights. I did take a few small breaks, but for the most part I went after it. I did increase my weight of some of the moves, going from 40's to 45's on the weighted back moves, from 10's to 15's on the Shoulder Fly's, and 15's to 20's on the Upright Rows. I decreased my weight from 25's to 20's on the last move, Curl, Press, Kickback, because the 25's were to heavy for me last week on the kickback's. However I did increase my rep count there from 6 to 10. Overall, it was a good workout, and unlike the last two workouts, the time moved along.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 323; Avg Heart Rate: 128.

THURSDAY - MAY 28, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Stretch

I broke a cardinal rule and was running back and forth to the stove a few times while starting dinner. I paused the workout while I did it, but it was a bit disjointed and broke my concentration a bit. Otherwise it went OK. For some reason I'm afraid to lean back and put my hands on my feat in Camel. I tried it on the repeat move, but felt my right quad tighten a bit, so I came out of it.

Time: 30 minutes: Calories burned: 176; Avg Heart Rate: 98.

FRIDAY - MAY 29, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Bun Shaper

One of my online P90X mates asked me what I was up to and I told him that I was doing Power 90 and Power Half Hour. I knew he'd done them long, long ago (on VHS), before P90X. In the back of my mind he's actually one of the reasons that inspired me to try it out. He kind of laughed and said he remembered Bun Shaper was an "ouch". I didn't find it so bad, but I can see where it can work the Bun area.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 246; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

SATURDAY - MAY 30, 2020 - POWER 90 - Fat Burning Express

I did better than last week, maybe because I was more familiar with it, and maybe because I was just feeling a bit better. I think I went lower on a few of the moves. I still didn't use a medicine ball, and I still didn't touch the floor on the side to sides. Maybe next time.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 279; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

SUNDAY - MAY 31, 2020 - TONY HORTON - Ho' Ala Ke Kino

I can't say I was too relaxed going into it. My legs are really tired and sore. The Power Yoga is still tough for me because of the pace. I kept up with it, but those push-ups on the vinyasas get to you at that speed.

Time: 27 minutes; Calories Burned: 203; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 166.4 (-1,2 lbs)
Body Fat: 14.6% (-0.4%)

Both are big drops, but I was kind of expecting it. I still am not eating great, but it was a bit better than previous weeks.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

This was the second time through these workouts. I think my opinion remains the sames as after the first. They don't seem like they're doing much, but I think they are. The Arm Toner is by far the toughest, the only one I'd consider P90X-ish. Bit they're not throwaway workouts either.

WEEK OF 05/18/2020 - POWER 90 - ROUND 1 - WEEK 10

MONDAY - MAY 18, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Ab Burner

My first impression wasn't good, but I'm going to withhold judgement. The production quality was similar to Power 90 with the bare room, but something seemed off a bit. There wasn't even a menu at the beginning of the DVD. It just started with the 30 minute countdown. There were sets of standing moves followed by sets of mat moves, then standing, then mat, etc. The mat moves were mostly taken from Power 90 Ab Ripper and a few P90X Ab Ripper X. The standing moves were a lot of twisting moves along with some plyo moves. It did get me winded a few times, but overall it didn't seem too intense. As I said, I'm going to withhold judgement until I see how my abs will feel in a few days. My heart rate monitor crashed, so the numbers below are estimates.

Time: 30 minutes? Calories Burned: 200?; Avg Heart Rate: 102?.

TUESDAY - MAY 19, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Thigh Trimmer

Again, nothing was hard, but I did work up a bit of a sweat. As I said yesterday, it felt like something was missing, and today I noticed the music was barely audible. I'm wondering if that's what it was yesterday. To be honest, I don't pay attention to the background music. It's just there. I'm pretty sure it was in Power 90 1-2 and 3-4. Not sure about Master Series.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 256; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

WEDNESDAY - MAY 20, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Arm Toner

Arm Toner is a bit of a misnomer, as this works the chest, back, shoulders, biceps, and triceps. There are 28 moves in the 30 minutes, so it really motors along. I took a few small breaks. I did ten reps on almost all of the moves/ I used 40's on the weighted back moves, 25's on the shoulder and bicep moves. A decent workout.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 278; Avg Heart Rate: 120.

THURSDAY - MAY 21, 2020 = POWER HALF HOUR - Stretch

Nothing new here. The sequence was good. For some reason I was very flexible today. I surprised myself.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 120; Avg Heart Rate: 88.

FRIDAY - MAY 22, 2020 - POWER HALF HOUR - Bun Shaper

I've done the One On One Bun Shaper many times, so I was thinking I knew what to expect, and I was pretty spot on. Some of the standing moves were the same, or similar. The big difference was roughly half of this workout were on your knees mat moves. Even a lot of those were in some on Tony's later programs. Overall I liked the workout. It was simple, but I'm guessing I might feel it a bit in a few days.

Time:30 minutes; Calories Burned: 224; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

SATURDAY - MAY 23, 2020 - POWER 90 - Fat Burning Express

I read a couple reviews off Amazon before I did it. Most said it wasn't too difficult, but still made you break a bit of a sweat. That's exactly what I found to be the case. I did get a little winded a few times and my legs were getting a bit tired on the squatting moves. I didn't go too low on the squats and I didn't use a med ball. Doing both of those would have made this much harder.

Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 243; Avg Heart Rate: 104.

SUNDAY - MAY 24, 2020 - TONY HORTON - Ho' Ale Ke Kino

Nothing exceptional to say. It went well.

Time: 27 minutes;lories Burned: 214; Avg Heart Rate: 110.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 167.6 (-0.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 15.0% (no change)

Still not eating well.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

I'm not sure if I like the Power Half Hour workouts. They don't seem hard, but I did get a bit winded at times, which I usually do the first time I do a workout. The Arm Toner was a lot tougher than all the other ones. Unless one uses light weights, it really didn't fit in with the other workouts. I used heavier weights. I will admit I did get sore a few days after doing some of the workouts, so they may be sneakily effective. I'm still not eating well. This is a problem. It's like a Catch 22 situation. The bad eating is causing me to feel a bit depressed and that is causing me to eat poorly. The solution is to break the cycle by eating better. I just have to do it, just like I do the workouts. I just do them.
