WEEK OF 08/28/2017 - P90X3 - ROUND 6 - WEEK 7

MONDAY - AUGUST 28, 2017 - P90X3 - Eccentric Upper

Today is my 60th birthday. Who would have thought I'd be doing these things at this age. I've come a long way since I started in 2008, and I've stuck with it. Overall, I'm happy with myself in that regard. Today wasn't a real great day at work. I was exhausted from a lack of sleep over the past few weeks. I'm stressed about a lot of things I probably shouldn't be, primarily my job, which I'm really starting to hate, but probably shouldn't, and it all built up today. I ate like crap the last few days, and this morning, so I was feeling guilty and overwhelmed about that. All I wanted to do was to get home and go to bed. I was seriously considering skipping the workout, but knew I probably wouldn't. I took a small nap, then got into it. The workout went pretty well. I pushed myself to get an extra pull-up in on some moves, so that felt good. Aside from that, I'm just not feeling good mentally. I don't think it's because of the age thing. I've never put a lot of stock into that. It's more of a daily grind and getting nowhere thing. It's just something I have to overcome.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 234; Avg Heart Rate: 119; Max Heart Rate: 150.

TUESDAY - AUGUST 29, 2017 - P90X3 - Triometrics

I tried to get some good rest last night and slowed my mind down a bit, which helped throughout the day. This workout is one of my least favorites because I physically have problems with a lot of the balancing moves. It usually beats me mentally. Tonight I went with the attitude of doing the best I could do on the moves I can't always do, and really going after the moves I can do. It was one of my best efforts at this workout. I feel good.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 281; Avg Heart Rate: 124; Max Heart Rate: 150.

WEDNESDAY - AUGUST 30, 2017 - Incinerator

I bought a couple 50 lb dumbbells today. The Powerblocks I use have 50 lb capabilities, and I've used them a lot at that weight, but the dumbbells are easier to use on a few moves, and I want to start using heavier weights when I can, even in between X3 wiorkouts. I used them today on the Rocket Launcher Rows and the A-Presses. The rest of the workout went pretty good. I even did a few extra pullups here and there, just like I did Monday. I'm realizing the main reason I can't do more is because I'm losing my grip on the bar.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 229; Avg Heart Rate: 119; Max Heart Rate: 156.

THURSDAY - AUGUST 31, 2017 - P90X3 - X3 Yoga

Not as good as last week's Yoga session, but it was above average. My flexibility was pretty good and my balance was OK on my right leg.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 147; Avg Heart Rate: 108; Max Heart Rate: 126.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 1, 2017 - P90X3 - Eccentric Lower

I played golf again this morning. I played better than I had in a while, and had a really good time overall.  I felt really good going into the workout, and that continued all the way through it. I used 50 lbs on the Sumo Squats. 25's on the other squats and lunges, and the Bridge Kicks, I still lose my balance an the Cross Reaches and the Pistol Squats, but it is what it is. I'll keep working at it.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 199; Avg Heart Rate: 112; Max Heart Rate: 140.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 2, 2017 - P90X3 - MMX

Another good workout. My goal was to keep up with them on the number of sprawls. Mission almost accomplished. I went to my knees during the second set of the scrambles (to the left). Other than that, it went well, and I felt good.

Time: 30 minutes; Calories Burned: 327; Avg Heart Rate: 132; Max Heart Rate: 159.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 3, 2017 - P90X3 - X3 Ab Ripper

I was a bit stiff on the Tin Man Windmills when turning to my right (left hand to floor). This happens every time I do this workout, and also during Yoga. Maybe it's a hip thing?  I've also noticed when I do the torso twists in the cool down I can put my knees down to the right and get my left arm to the floor, but can't do the same thing on the other side. Again, it's easier twisting to my left. Hmmm... Aside from that, the workout went well.

Time: 15 minutes; Calories Burned: 50; Avg Heart Rate: 99; Max Heart Rate: 122.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 198.8 (+0.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 22.5% (+0.2%)

Didn't eat great. It wasn't horrible, but could have been better.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Monday was a bad day mentally, but I recovered. All the workouts went well. I feel myself toning up, especially in my quads and shoulders. I did a few extra exercises during the week (mostly chest presses) with the 50 lb dumbbells and they felt good. Still working on the eating, but that's been an ongoing story for the last 9 years.
