WEEK OF 9/28/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 11

MONDAY - SE{TEMBER 28, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Chest, Back and Balls

I did what I could. I've said this before, but when you're done with a set of pull-ups, you're done. At least for me, unless I take a thirty second break to possibly get onr or two more, I'm done. I did the push-ups until I didn't feel safe balancing on the balls. Overall, it was an OK workout. I don't give myself enough credit. These moves are hard, and I did them.

Start: 7:50 pm; Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 379; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 29, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyocide: MC2

This was a much better effort than two weeks ago. My coordination seemed to be back a bit. I still stumble on the balance moves, but most of the other ones went OK.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 499; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 30, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Shoulders and Arms: MC3

A good workout. Nothing exceptional, but steady. I didn't try to increase my weights on the Arnold Presses or Seated Bicep Curls because I wanted to keep the reps up. Last time I tried increasing the weight a few times and it didn't work. I guess I should have tried again, anf it didn't workm then I could have lowered the weight. Hindsight, but something to remember.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 539; Avg Heart Rate: 118.

THURSDAY - OCTOBER 1, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I was all over the place. I quit on a lot of the moves, just because I didn't feel like doing them. I've already repeated my feelings on this routine, so I'm not going to do it again.

Start: 9:45 pm: Time: 66 minutes: Calories Burned: 391; Avg Heart Rate: 99.

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 2, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Base and Back

I did OK. The pull-up numbers were close to normal for this routine, and I did 20 reps on each of the plyo moves.

Start: 8:00 pm: Time: 51 minutes; Calories Burned: 430; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

SATURDAY - OCTOBER 3, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Total Body X: MC2

I finally got my Xero Shoes for my workouts. It took them three weeks to get here, and they came in the wrong color, but I'm keeping them. I've always worked out in bare feet, and my balance is horrible, so I was hoping these would help. I also have a tendency to slide around of my carpet a bit when doing fast cardio moves and thought these might grip better. My first reaction is they might grip too much on a mat. They definitely grip better on the carpet. I noticed my back foot doesn't twist as much when I'm in a lunge. They're also very light, so there isn't a noticeable weight difference. I think the more I use them, the more I'll get used to the nuances of using them. The workout went OK, but I think I got more tired than two weeks ago.

Start: 8:45 pm: Time: 42 minutes: Calories Burned: 396; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

SUNDAY - OCTOBER 4, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

Business as usual with this one. I was a bit un-coordinated on the Ball Through The Legs Behind The Back one, but I'd just discovered how to do it last time.

Start: 8:10 pm; Time: 45 minutes: Calories Burned: 312; Avg Heart Rate: 103.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 158.2 (-0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.-% (no change)

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

This was the beginning week for Tony's Power Nation Beta Test workouts, but I'm sticking out the last three weeks of this round. These workouts are tough, and they're long, but I'm hanging in there, and I'm proud of that.

WEEK OF 9/21/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 10

MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - UBX

Tough workout, but I got through it pretty well. On the Side Arm Tricep Extensions Tony mentions that you could do them on on Bosu Ball. He didn't, but I did, so I tried them. They weren't pretty because I was losing my balance a lot. I wasn't bending my arm down too much because the weight (15 lbs) was too heavy. Everything else went fine.

Start: 7:30 pm: Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 531; Avg Heart Rate: 124.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 22, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Core Synergistics: MC2

Awful workout. I don't like it. There are a lot of one legged balance moves I have trouble with, almost to the point I might hurt myself. I got interrupted a few times, once just as I was beginning the Dreya Rolls with a Ball. Normally I can get a few in. Today, I was so discombobulated, I didn't get any in. During the day, I was actually looking forward to giving this one a run, because I knew I didn't like it. I'll try again next time.

Start: 8:30 pm: Time: 67 minutes; Calories Burned: 570; Avg Heart Rate: 113.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 23, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - V Sculpt: MC2

My body is tired. I came home and took a small nap, but it didn't help much. This was another one of those days where I didn't know how I was going to make it through the workout. There wasn't much of a warm up, so when he started, I just went faster than he did. When I got to the last bicep move of the first round, I couldn't remember how to do it, so I guessed a bit and figured I'd watch it when he did it. It also happened to be the first bicep move of the second round, so I skipped to the next bicep move. When he finally did it, I caught them up. I then did the secomd round totally out of sequence, leaving the four band moves to the end. I was generally OK on things. I'd used 30's on a lot of the bicep moves last time. Today, I used 25's because I was feeling a bit weak. I did start with 30's on Down The Rack, however. I think I did a few less reps than last time on some of the pull-ups, but I get another crack at it in two weeks.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 56 minutes; Calories Burned: 504; Avg Heart Rate: 119.

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I was in a much better frame of mind than when I usually do this workout. It seemed to move along faster, and I didn't get as frustrated with it as I usually do. I was still stumbling on a lot of the poses, but kept trying. I'm convinced my balance is getting worse. I used to be able to hold poses like Tree or Warrior 3, but now I can't even get into them. Overall, though, I was pleased with my effort today.

Start: 8:35 pm: Time: 66 minutes: Calories Burned: 515; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - P.A.P.

I played golf this morning and was super lethargic. My body is just very tired. It could be from overtraining, bad diet, or not getting enough sleep. It's probably a combination of all three, and something I have to concentrate on getting better with. I didn't feel like doing the workout, either. It's very long. I didn't do any of the 15 to 20 minute "warm-up" moves, instead I washed some dishes that I though needed washing at the moment. I got though the complexes and most of the cool down moves. The only problems I had were on the Front to Back Lunges, where my balance was horrible, and the Plyo Push-ups, where I did three of the four sets from my knees. I held the Side Planks and Chaturanga Planks for thirty seconds on almost all of the sets. Overall, it wasn't a great workout/ I feel a bit guilty about dogging the warm-up.

Start: 7:45 pm; Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 453; Avg Heart Rate: 108.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 26, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Stretch and Recovery

One thing I've noticed over the past few years is that I stay sore longer than I had, and that I'm not as flexible as I used to be. I used to be able to do most of the moves in this workout to some extent. Maybe I wasn't as flexibles as Tony, but at least I was able to get into the stretch and hold it for as long as he did. The last few times I did this workout, that wasn't the cast. Today there was a number of moves I could barely get into, and a lot more that I couldn't hold too long. I don't know if that was from a lack of willpower, or aging. I'm going to try and work at getting flexible again. I'll add that to my list of things to concentrate on.

Start: 8:50 pm; Time: 69 minutes; Calories Burned: 278; Avg Heart Rate: 93.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 27, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2

No problems with any of the moves. I went faster than he did and finished about for moves ahead of him. I just watched the rest.

Start: 7:30 pm: Time: 45 minutes; Calories Burned: 228; Avg Heart Rate: 97.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 158.8 (-2.0 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.0% (-0.6%)

I think that might be the largest Body Fat drop I've had in a week, but it could be an aberration.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Once again, my body is exhausted, which usually happens around this time in each round. Volume Three is a bear. There's no relief. Tony Horton's new program, Power Nation, is supposed to start tomorrow with six "Beta" (test) workouts, but I'm going to hold off on that and finish the last three weeks of this round. I feel loyal to it, because it's given me such great results over the past few years.

WEEK OF 9/14/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 9

MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Chest, Back and Balls

This is the start of month three, and Volume Three. This one is tough. I did OK on most of the push-up moves, even getting in three "Possible" Push-ups. I also did OK on the pull-ups, but my numbers were a bit lower than last time. Sometimes the strength just wasn't there. Overall, I was pleased with what I did, and I feel real good afterwards.

Start: 7:15 pm: Time: 60 minutes; Calories Burned: 565; Avg Heart Rate: 121.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 15, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Plyocide: MC2

Poor effort. I was feeling sluggish in general. My legs were feeling heavy and I had no spring in them. I was also feeling uncoordinated, as there were some moves I had to do in slow motion, like the Mary Katherine lunges. The good thing is that I muddled through it and didn't quit. My heart monitor also died.

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 520; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 16, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Shoulders and Arms: MC2

Somebody asked me at work today: "How do you have the motivation to work out every day?" My answer is always the same. "I just do it.". It's really that simple. Most days I don't feel like working out. Some days I put it off as long as possible, but I always know I'm going to get it done. I don't try and rationalize reasons not to do it. If there is any motivation, it's that I'm doing what 99% of the population won't. I also like the way it makes me feel and look. It makes me feel good when somebody tells me I look great, or that I wish I could do what you do. Today's workout was old school weights. On the Arnold Presses I used 30's. I did 8 reps on the first set, then only got in 6 on the second two sets, as my form was going bad quickly. On the Seated Bicep Curls I did 12 reps with 30's on the first set. I tried 35's on the second set, but only did 4. I went back to 30's on the third set and did another 12. I haven't been lifting a lot of heavy weight lately, so maybe that's the problem, or maybe it's just because I'm getting older. Either way, I'm playing it smart. I know when my form is going bad, so I stop. I really should finish up with more reps with a lower weight. That's a note for next time. Overall, it was a good workout. There's really no days off in Volume Three.

Start: 8:10 pm; Time: 58 minutes; Calories Burned: 536; Avg Heart Rate: 124..

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 17, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Yoga: MC2

I normally don't like this one, but I went into it with an open frame of mind. That didn't work. This workout is too long. Many of the poses are repetitive. By the time the fourth sequence came around and I was doing my fifth set of Shoulder Stretches and reverse twists and so on, I was just getting pissed off. Any sense of zen and calmness I should have during a yoga session went out the window. I usually don't skip moves, but I found myself walking around the mat or just going to my knees for periods of time. I'll try netter next time.

Start: 7:15 pm; Time: 66 minutes; Calories Burned: 545; Avg Heart Rate: 112.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 18- 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Base and Back: MC2

I was tired when I got home and was putting this off as long as I could. I know Tony labors through this one. I never has as much problem with it, but he's doing more reps than I am, on both the plyo moves and the pull-up moves. I started the regular workout during his warm up and never stopped. I finished both sets while he was just beginning the second set. I then just layed on the floor and watched him finish up. I found my rep counts on my pull-ups were almost identical to when I last did the workout in February. I did 20 reps on the plyo moves. I probably could have done a few more if I'd really wanted to push myself, but I guess I was content not to. I think that's a mindset I'll have to work on to improve.

Start: 8:40 pm; Time: 51 minutes; Calories Burned: 416; Avg Heart Rate: 111.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 19, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Total Body X: MC2

I did OK. There are a few tough moves here, but I got through them OK.

Start: 6:05 pm: Time: 42 minutes; Calories Burned: 276; Avg Heart Rate: 107.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 20, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ARX2: MC2

I did 20 reps on each and 100 Bicycles at the end. Not as many reps on some of the moves than he did, but I think I did pretty good.

Start: 7:40 pm: Time: 45 minutes: Calories Burned: 188; Avg Heart Rate: 94.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 160.8 (-0.6 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.6% (+0.3%)

Last week my weight went up and my body fat decreased. This week it was the opposite.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

Tough workouts, but I got through them OK.

Monday, September 7, 2020

WEEK OF 9/7/2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - ROUND 5 - WEEK 8

MONDAY - SEPTEMBER 7, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Upper Body Balance

I was tired all day and took a few naps. I was feeling really sluggish for the workout. Things went OK. On many of the moves I did more reps than two weeks ago, but I was really tiring in the second half. I came off the balls a few times during the push-ups, went to my knees for a few seconds, then continued. My strength just wasn't there.

Start: 7:15 pm;  Time:53 minutes; Calories Burned: 493; Avg Heart Rate: 117.

TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - On One Leg For Legs

I did the best I could, which wasn't much, but I tried/

Start: 8:00 pm; Time: 52 minutes; Calories Burned: 403; Avg Heart Rate: 109.

WEDNESDAY - SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Back and Belly

The pull-ups went OK, but I came off the bar more times than usual. I did, however, get back up on the bar more than usual, so that's a good thing.

Start: 7:15 pm; Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 315; Avg Heart Rate: 114.

THURSDAY - SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Patience Hummingbird

At the beginning I was trying to concentrate on my breathing, as he often says. That lasted about ten minutes, but it's a start. The rest of the workout was a bunch of stumbling and bumbling, as I'm trying to be perfect a lot of the time, which causes rigidity in my moves, and causes loss of balance. All these years of yoga, and I'm still learning.

Start: 7:35 pm; Time: 36 minutes; Calories Burned: 207; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

FRIDAY - SEPTEMBER 11, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - 100/30/20

I was better on the jump rope than two weeks ago. I also finished the 100 jumps in the bonus section, which I didn't do last time. 18 misses to get to 100. I felt pretty good afterwards.

Start: 6:00 pm;  Time: 46 minutes; Calories Burned: 337; Avg Heart Rate: 115.

SATURDAY - SEPTEMBER 12, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Cardio Confusion: Mason's Choice

I got this one done early. It went well. I tried putting on my Xero shoes half way through to see if it would keep me from sliding on the carpet a bit, and improving my balance. I think it did a little, so I ended up ordering a pair of their shoes made for working out. We'll see what happens when I get them.

Start: 9:15 am; Time: 43 minutes; Calories Burned: 361; Avg Heart Rate: 116.

SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 13, 2020 - TONY HORTON ONE ON ONE - Iso Abs

This is my ;ast time doing this one this round, and I'll miss it, as it is my favorite ab routine. Today went well. I even got up in most of the Banana Boats.

Start: 9:20 pm; Time: 38 minutes; Calories Burned: 242; Avg Heart Rate: 100.

SUNDAY WEIGH IN

Weight: 161.4 (+1.8 lbs)
Body Fat: 13.3% (-0.1%)

The weight is bouncing over and under 160 each week. It's OK, because I don't want to lose too much more weight. The drop in body fat is good. People are constantly telling me I'm looking good.

THOUGHTS FOR THE WEEK

The workouts went pretty well. I like Volume Two. I'm sore every day. I always get sore when I reach this part of the program, and I can never figure out why. I finally realized it might be the Jumping Rope. My arms are the sorest, with my legs coming in a close second. There are three workous where there is Rope Jumping.
